Penelope and her Duke.

Short. Sweet. Enjoyable. Tragic. Penelope finds her Duke. Then loses him.

I was gifted an Audible version of this book from the author through Story Origin. The narration is very good and appropriate.

Delightful!

Lady Penelope Gillingham is an enigma and a deep-thinker, ahead of her time. She is an equestrian and a dedicated abolitionist, not afraid to go toe-to-toe with a man. During a ride on her "spirited" horse, Bob, she meets Duke Mark and is instantly smitten. His reaction is much the same and it's not long before they fall in love. As was the custom, Penelope's father promised her to a much older man to secure her future happiness, but Penelops could only be happy with Duke Mark. After she is wed, her husband has to sail to check on one of his territories in the new world, and something happens at sea. What a fortuitous turn of events to reunite the true loves.
The narration is wonderfully done by Zane Boyer. He speaks the male and female voices so well and there's an inflection in his voice that has me listening more closely. His dynamic and well-modulated voice brings this story to life.

Penelope

This is book 2 of the series. It picks up where book 1 left off, but can be read as a stand alone. It is a clean novella, good for a quick read. The story is a bit predictable, still a fun story. Penelope is a smart and head-strong women. She is interested in business, and things not deemed appropriate for a Lady. Her father promised her hand in marriage, however she is in love with someone else. Penelope wants to see the world, and not settle down to be a home-body and mother. The story is well written and engaging. The characters are interesting and relatable. The narration was well done. I received a free copy of this audiobook, and am voluntarily leaving my review.
