About this listen

Diego Conner is at school when his world changes. As soon as his classmates start killing each other, he runs. Then, when he gets home, his parents try to eat him. They aren’t zombies though. They are alive and can be killed. He simply calls them “The Changed”. The only people he knows who haven’t changed are his friends, Sheena and Wes. With their families gone, the 15-year-olds are forced to look out for each other. But how will they survive? Who can Diego turn to? Is it Wes, a born leader or Cali, the only girl he knows? Together, can they find survivors and a new way of life? Can they face a new journey - one filled with brainless, flesh eating monsters? The prison awaits.

alternative zombie ....think 28 days

overall good book, I like the story and the characters. not necessarily zombies, think more like 28 days. Survive. Survive. Survive. Some unique twists at the end. Narrator and narration was well done. If you like zombie(like) tales give this one a try. I will definitely look for the next book in the series....which you happen to get the 1st chapter of at the end of this book. I did get this book as a review copy but was very happy with this book.

Not your average apocalypse story! Much better!

After the Change by Michael J. Moore brings a different perspective for the apocalypse story. Three teens venture through the new world and experience many unthinkable obstacles. Having been best friends, and bandmates, before “the change” they benefit from their teamwork to gain an advantage over the rest of humanity. Action and adventure from beginning to end make this story hard to put down (or turn off if you’re listening on audible). It’s written from the point of view of Diego, one of the three friends and he has a unique way of telling a story. While mostly filled with suspense and action, you’ll also enjoy laughing with them
too. You may even feel the need to join in the action by screaming at the many different characters that join the story. Overall, I loved this story and can’t wait to read their next adventure!

Action Packed Thriller

I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
This book explores the world after "The Change" that causes friends and family to become mindless killing machines. After losing his family, Diego and his two surviving friends are forced to navigate a world that is no longer recognizable or safe. With danger at every turn, the author created a book that is action packed and exciting. Although the beginning is similar to others I've read, Moore puts his own unique spin on the typical apocalyptic scenario that kept me engaged and curious. I immediately empathized with and connected to the main characters, and all the others they meet as the plot unfolds. I thought the narrator was great, and brought this book to life. This is a fantastic book, that flows well and is well worth a credit! As a bonus the author included a teaser for the next book in the series!

Great Postapocalyptic YA Novel

The narrator Richard Peterson did a great job with this title. His female voices weren't exaggerated and he put urgency into the tense situations.

The book itself was pretty good. The main characters had enough character building to keep the story moving but I would have liked to see more motivation and character development from Wes. I found myself wanting to know more about him but he always found a way to change the conversation.

While the kids are young, they adapt to the situation in a way I found believable, and while we never find out what cause the change, it makes sense that a bunch of 15 year olds wouldn't have figured it out. So I'm glad the author didn't try to spin that.

Overall the book was a great listen.

Awesome

I received a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for a review. I knew nothings about the book or the narrator but let me say that I am impressed. I rarely give 5 stars to a book but this one earned it. I love apocalyptic books and this one does not disappoint. Also I have a new narrator to add to my favorites...prior to this Scott Brick was the only male narrator that I loved but now I have this one too!
