Aftermath

Wow!What a twisty book! Janet comes back to the small town she left at a young age.Her mother had moved them away from her dad and she never saw him alive again. The man that killed her father was also killed.Everyone in town hates her and she has no idea why. What she finds is beyond imagination. Amy Deuchler was a fine narrator. I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.

Enjoyable 'Cozy' Mystery

Aftermath is a fairly enjoyable 'Cozy' Mystery. The setting of the small town southern town of Graylee as well as the residents is interesting. The juxtaposition of a Big City New Yorker Janet Wright returning to her small town southern roots is played up quite a bit. Janet returns to Graylee after her very rich Father who she hasn't seen since she was 5 was murdered and left everything to her. She pretty much owns Graylee and everything in it. As soon as she gets there she realizes that people don't particularly seem to like her or have liked her father much either even though they were completely reliant on him. She begins to suspect that something is going on and that her fathers murder by a drifter isn't as clear an open and shut case as it has been out to be and she begins investigating herself putting her in the middle of this towns mystery.

The story is pretty good, the narration is also done very well, my main issue is with some of the main characters choices and decisions seem a bit much to me but it doesn't really hurt the story or mystery aspect of it. It is a fun mystery and an easy and enjoyable read.

Cozy Suspense Read

A small town. A big secret.

After the death of her father, Janet doesn’t know what she’s walking into. All she knows is the way that the townspeople look at her. As she begins to slowly learn the town’s awful secret she finds herself in the middle of a dangerous web of lies, the same one that led to her father’s death.

This audiobook was enrapturing from the beginning. I loved the way the author created so drastically different personalities for all the characters. The MC was both funny and determined, a real delight in this little mystery/suspense audiobook.

The narration was perfect for the story.

Aftermath

Janet Wright inherits her absent father's estate in Georgia after he is murdered. She uproots her New York City life, where her love life is in a shambles and relocates in the small town of Graylee for a fresh start.
Janet has a witty sharp tongue and the people of Graylee more than a bit standoffish with her, fearing she is much like her father. Janet's father owned the town of Graylee and ruled it with golden handcuffs. There is a mystery that surrounds the town, the death of her father and the person who murdered him and Janet is determined to find out what it is.

An odd mixture of humor and mystery kept me listening to this story. The dialog is snappy, the descriptions vivid, but some of the characters are over the top with cliches.
Amy Deuchler is enjoyable to listen to as the narrator of this story. Her accents and voices are commendable.
