An Outstanding Emotionl Treasure!

“One Last Dance” by Linda Weaver Clark is the first book in the Willow Valley Series of historical romance novels. I was given a review copy of this audio book treasure and I went through it quickly because I absolutely loved it! One of the most outstanding features of this sweet historical romance is the authenticity of the settings, customs, class distinctions, and manners of its time frame, 1835. The heroine is a talented artist named Felicity Brooks who returns to her hometown to take care of her mother after her father passes away. While there, she meets her dashing next-door neighbor, Nicholas Adams, the hero. Another gripping and fantastic feature of this novel is the way the author deals with emotions. They are genuine and believable. Then, there is also a dimension of mystery to this book, as well, which is incorporated beautifully by the author. The narration by Carolyn Kashner is smooth and enjoyable. “One Last Dance“ was inspired by a dream that Linda Weaver Clarke had about her father. The way that she so generously shares her emotional experience makes this story uplifting, inspiring, and unforgettable. I look forward to reading more from this fine author.

One Last Dance

A fantastic story that really grabbed my heart. It captivated me from the start to the finish. This Author really knows how to pen a captivating story and the Narrator brings the Characters out so well. I felt like I got to know the characters. This is definitely a audio I recommend I would give it more than five stars.

Relax and enjoy this highly entertaining Historical Romance suspenseful story.

One Last Dance is a well written tale about a woman who was experiencing life in its fullness when she was called home at the death of her beloved father. She needed to spend time with her grieving mother.
Upon her arrival she discovered notorious, new neighbor was not the elderly gentleman the daughter expected, but a young, well dressed attractive man Why would he be spending so much time with her mother?
Nickolas has been trying to catch a notorious thief for three years. He finally chased the clues to this one fast growing community. He strongly suspected a man of prestige. Now, he just needed to prove it.
This story is slightly predictable but has enough “twists” to make it thoroughly enjoyable.
With a touch of humor, adventure, mystery and intrigue, this Historical Romance is sure to uplift and entice the reader to enjoy each page to the very end. (Be sure to listen to/read the Author notes at the end of the book.
Carolyn Kashner does a good job of narration. She does well in delivery and most of the various “voices “ . She will do well to limit narration to a small number of characters for her meek voice is limited in the effectiveness of differentiating numerous characters.
The Title was well chosen. The Cover image was not very eye-catching and would not be my first choice.

Good storyline

I love listening to audio books. It’s like a friend is telling an elaborate story to entertain you while completing tasks. The trick to being reeled in, is to not let the attention of person who is listening stray. In this reading, I found the narrator took such long pauses between slowly read sentences that the threads of the story being woven by the author were often dropped. I put the book on 2x, then had no trouble following the reader and enjoyed the story.
This book has mystery, adventure, good vs bad and of course romance. I enjoyed the hide and seek of father to daughter to find a family treasure, the sleuthing to figure out who was committing the crimes, and the slow, easy way the two main characters were drawn to each other. Because the bad choices were not violent, this is a fun, clean listen good for all age groups.

Another sweet story.

Felicity arrives home after her father's death to take care of her grieving mother. She finds out that her mother was getting some help from a new neighbor Nicholas Adams. Much to her surprise she finds herself attract to his man and much to his surprise he also finds himself attracted to her also, just that his job will mean he will be gone more than be around. Yet because of his profession and what he is doing in Willow Valley, both Felicity helps Nicholas solve who is behind an occurring thief and they realize how much they are in love with each other.

Ms Clarks does it again with another sweet and clean story that everyone can listen too and enjoy.

Enjoyable story!

This was a sweet, clean, historical romance read. I enjoyed seeing the slow relationship develop between Felicity and Nicholas. Felicity's mother was fun in her bantering to get them together. This book also had suspense in it as Felicity's recently deceased father had a treasure that some treasure hunters were after. Nicholas was actually an undercover Marshall trying to catch the people after the treasure. I won't give anything away, it was a good ending to a good story.

I received a free copy of this book, and this review reflects my honest and unbiased opinion.

A Light Fun Historical Romance-Suspense

"One Last Dance" (A Willow Valley Historical Romance, Book One) By: Linda Weaver Clarke Narrated by: Carolyn Kashner
As an audio book this story fell a little short of a really like 4-star read; thus the okay 3-star rating. It could very well just be how I was feeling at the time I read-listened to this story. So you may want to take this rating with a grain of salt.

I cried

This was such a touching story. From the first scene, it broke my heart to learn about Felicity’s father. Although, I was quite intrigued at the intricate treasure hunt coupled with the undercover working of Nicholas, I still appreciated the talk about family the most.
