About this listen

Single mom Rachel Hunter has not one second to spare in her day between rearing two daughters, running a thriving goat farm, and keeping tabs on her eccentric brother. Not to mention an ex-husband who's in prison for murder and a local gang leader harassing her at every turn! Then a gorgeous, tattooed man crashes into her fence and she finds out exactly what it means to have her hands full.

Pruxnae Dyuvad ab Mhij is sent to Earth by a mysterious Net telepath to protect a young girl, from what, the 'path doesn't say. He arrives at the girl's home expecting the worst, and is greeted by the young girl's mother, a honey-haired, plain spoken temptress whose mountain fortitude makes her a perfect candidate for the Choosing.

Dyuvad's first duty is to his mission, protecting a young girl from dangers unknown. It doesn't take long for the danger to become apparent, however, and soon, he and Rachel are embroiled in a reckless game led by a man who will stop at nothing to control Rachel and her children.

Almost as good as the first book

This was almost as good as the first book. I loved the story in this one but it was more about the happenings on Earth than not. That wasn't a bad thing as there was A LOT happening on Earth! I would be interested in finding more about what is to happen about Tiny though. Can't wait for more from this author.

book 3 - The Pruznae

This is book 3 in Varna's The Pruxnae series and I have to say, this one is my favorite so far. I loved the characters, especially single mom Rachel and her daughters. They were strong and sweet I just loved the devotion and innocence they were able to maintain. The southernisms were so much fun to hear, especially since the translator couldn't translate them and left Dyuvad to figure a lot on his own. I loved the devotion to family and I loved that Rachel and Dyuvad made their connection and he was upfront with her on what to expect before "kidnapping" her for the choosing. Narration was smooth and easy to listen to and with the dual narration really brought the two main characters to life!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Not very alien, but nicely done.

Varna wrote the alien lead so accessibly that he didn't seem too alien at all. Plus, except for the epilogue, the story is primarily set on earth. Narration works if you're into audio. I appreciate the kindle with audio purchase option.

I really liked this one!

I enjoyed the story and the narrators. Both narrators did a great job. I didn't need to listen to the first book to know what was going on but I will be looking for it now. I received this audiobook for free in exchange for an honest review.

Loved it

I got this story via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. Book 3 was filled with lots of details, plot twist and story detail with a little sex thrown in. I loved the children, especially Tiny. The accents were perfect. Boy to awaken and discover a man leaning on your back gate and your children beat you to him. The story started out great and got better as it moved along. I have not listened to any of the first but this one was really good. The narrators did a wonderful job.

Needed more closure.....

Let me start by saying that the narrators did a fantastic job. This is by far my favorite book in this series thus far, and that's saying a lot because none of the books I've listened to blew me away. I do however, wish that the ending was better. I wish it ended with me absolutely knowing that Rachel, her girls Kelly and Tiny, and Dyuvad were a family instead of it ending with no real closure. Yes, they were all together but the author could have let us know with certainty that Rachel won the battle and claimed Dyuvad. Over all, I enjoyed the characters and liked storyline but I wish there was a bit more closure to this story.

Alien Mine

This was an enjoyable story even though I didn’t listen to the first book. I may go back and purchase that one. Paul Brion and Angel Clark did a very good job with the narration. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

A must litsen after The Choosing

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have recommended one of the prior books of this series, The Choosing, to a few friends, and now I have definitely to recommend this one. It begins as a fork in the story of the choosing, which is what drew me to get it in the first place. The pace is different, but still has the same charm of The Choosing that I enjoyed so much.

What other book might you compare Alien Mine to and why?

The wilds by Donna Augustine, for two main reasons. The pacing and the dynamic of the characters are both very engaging and though the themes are not as related to one another, they both have characters with a lot of depth and excellent narration

Have you listened to any of Paul Brion and Angel Clark ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Paul Brian was a new narrator for me, and he had a bit of a rough start, but he seemed to get into the story half way through. Angel Clark is among my favorite narrators and more often than not I chose audio books based first on her being the narrator, and secondly the topic.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I listened to this book in a single sitting, while I worked and took care of some things. I don't think i would have wanted to pause it. I really wanted to know what would happen from scene to scene.

I loved this!

I have been on an alien kick lately. Mostly the lesser known books and authors that I never heard of before. This one had be from the first minute. I was sitting there with the earbuds in and, just like every other book I want to listen to, my hubby and the two cats were in trying to grab my attention. I wished I had a spaceship to go to.

I loved the backstory about why humans and the pruxnae look the same. I loved way everyone was like, "Women folk" and the old west type talk. Each character brought something to the story, including the bad guys. I couldn't find anything wrong with this book and I didn't feel like I was short changed.

This was the first first book I read in he series and I'm interested in getting more of the other books. I might even start using my credits on this series.
