Excellent review of what really did happen. It is real. Our Oma will every once in a while speak of what she went through, but Opa, no way! At 6’5” inches tall, he was down to 85lbs when freed. How some people can question history, especially this horrific history is beyond me. Like how humans can do the atrocities made in history. Never forget. Gerda did a fantastic job in keeping the truth alive. Thank you Gerda Weissmann Klein💜

Everybody should read or listen this book... Never should we forget to those millions of innocent people who were slaughtered, never should we forget that those human beings only asked to live in peace... Thank you for this unforgettable book...

I never heard of this book until I found it in the Audible Plus catalog. It’s a very touching story published in 1947. The author is quite honest in her portrayal of herself. There are a few selfish events she shared. However, for whatever reason this book touched me in a way I haven’t felt in a long time. Be prepared to cry. She has a very positive outlook and way of expressing herself.

I very much appreciated the Epilogue written in 1994. It was nice to hear about her life beyond the war/ immediate post-war time periods.

On a different note while the narrator did an excellent job, the sound quality was not. The volume fluctuated and I needed to crank the volume to hear it; then it would get loud again. I did not remove a star for it. Hopefully it’s an easy fix for the technicians.

I highly recommend this book.

A hidden gem

I couldn’t stop listening. It’s unusual to hear such a personal account of slavery and especially from a young female perspective.

Riveting Story

I almost didn’t listen to this after reading the reviews. Some did not like the narrator, but I rather enjoyed her. Each person is different. Sad story but worth it.

No problem with narrator

Thank you Gerda for sharing your deeply personal story with us all.

I had the good fortune of attending a talk given by Gerda in NYC. It was a middle school class trip back in the 1990’s.

I’ve never forgotten her story.

Never again is an unbreakable promise.

Thank You Gerda

Heartbreakingly beautiful. An excellent read. So hard to put down. It is so hard to understand the brutality that Gerts
endured. An amazing young woman.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

The bravery and positivity these women had and encouraged for themselves and others is incredible. Her story will be one I will reflect upon for a long while. Excellent listen

Another great story of survival and God's providence, inspite the evil of nazism and the Hitler regime!

Very engaging work.
