Story
I’ve fallen in love with a man called Sam. And he’s perfect, just perfect. It’s a whirlwind romance. And when our dream home falls through just before our wedding, we decide to move in with his parents. He says his mother, Evelyn, is the sweetest person. But I’m not so sure. She’s obsessively protective over Sam. She wants to know where he is all the time. She wakes us up in the morning, bustling into our room like he’s a small child, not a grown man. She doesn’t want me to be alone with him.

Story
Jimmy Tock comes into the world on the very night his grandfather leaves it. As a violent storm rages outside the hospital, Rudy Tock spends long hours walking the corridors between the expectant fathers' waiting room and his dying father's bedside. It's a strange vigil made all the stranger when, at the very height of the storm's fury, Josef Tock suddenly sits up in bed and speaks coherently for the frist and last time since his stroke. What he says before he dies is that there will be five dark days in the life of his grandson.

Story
Bounty hunter John Smoke never liked the rules. As a result of his overly aggressive - and often illegal - arrest methods, he ended up behind bars. But the Bureau won't let him be. Placed in the able care of beautiful, tough-as-nails Sidney Shaw, his new FBI handler, Smoke needs to alter his loose-cannon ways to remain a free man. But there is an unchecked evil festering deep in the heart of the nation's capital, a shadow conspiracy that won't be defeated with a by-the-book approach to law enforcement.

Story
In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep: They become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent; and while they sleep they go to another place.... The men of our world are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, however, the mysterious Evie, is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease.

My life was going just fine by most standards. I ran a successful business in a tight-knit magical community, and lived just blocks from a beautiful lake and series of hiking trails. Then Selene showed up. According to some magical code I inherit my aunt's ancient familiar; a grumpy ten-pound cat with a broken filter. She fancies herself something of a saber-toothed tiger, and claims to have wrestled the thread of her ninth life from the hands of the Fates themselves—although, I'm pretty sure that last part isn't true. Almost positive.

As many twists and turns as a bayou! Thrill ride!
What did you love best about All Saints' Secrets?
I loved Fanchon, her pluck, spirit, common sense and determination. She's level headed and smart.
What was one of the most memorable moments of All Saints' Secrets?
Oh DEFINITELY the ending! Holy cow it was exciting!
What does Suzy Lexington bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She is absolutely perfect doing the characters, she brought Fanchon to life, and I always knew which character was speaking.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes, I can't say what it is because it would be a spoiler, but when I found out what had really happened I was practically in tears.
Any additional comments?
I purchased the Kindle version of this book and I was given the audio version to review. I really like using Whispersynch to listen and read along.

Southern Gothic Mystery
Second book in the Saints Mystery series takes place mostly in New Orleans as Fanchon recovers from the injuries suffered at the hands of the killer in book 1. These injuries include a severely broken leg which does not allow the MC to bear weight although it is casted.
This short volume was a serviceable mystery but lacked much of the humor from the first book. I never imagined the strange twist at the end concerning the identity of main characters. The amount of traveling the MC managed with a severely broken leg was incredible but the phrase that drew me up short was at the end where the MC sits crosslegged before her dead BF's crypt. I totally can't see it with the cast needed for her injury.
The narrator did a very good, but not outstanding, job. However, I am interested enough in the series to want to read the next one. Currently it is not available on Audible so I may wait a few months and borrow through Kindle Unlimited. I bought the Kindle book and received the Audible version in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

A fine read for a dreary afternoon
Nice length for a dreary afternoon. Intriguing tale of convoluted events, NYPD, NOPD, and entangled pasts. Historical data is unreliable but just fine for plot device if you don't try to take it as gospel--this is FICTION, folks. Excellent mood-setting and character development in a very enjoyable and riveting tale. Personally, I had no problem fronting this book and enjoying it without being aware that it is a *Book 2*.

Another "Saints" Hit!
Publishers Summary
"After her death the kids used to say her ghost haunted the plantation."
The bayou holds many secrets. One of them is what really happened to Lisette, a beautiful Creole teenager who died on the last day of school. Everybody in Fanchon's reclusive bayou parish knows Lisette died in a boating accident, but when the police take a closer look, they unearth the dead girl and find a surprise in her grave.
All Saints' Secrets is the sequel to To Murder a Saint. It is highly recommended that the Saint books be listened to in order.
My Review
First things first, I love the cover, it's also quite a rarity as it has an apostrophe in the right place!
Now for the book: I thoroughly enjoyed the first in this series and had looked forward to catching up with Fanchon. This is a short listen and like the first book, is just packed full of action - no waffling here! Fitting so much in to a short space of time means that every sentence is important and meaningful, so don't get distracted whilst listening as you might miss something.
Fanchon is still clinging to the forlorn hope of remaining in New York, the odds are stacked against her yet she insists on attending a pre arranged job interview for a pianist, which everyone but Fanchon herself knew she was doomed to fail. She is forced to face the reality of her situation, and that reality is her inability to cope alone with the activities of daily life, so, back to the bayou to be cared for by Abolina. Having lost both of her daughters to gruesome ends, Abolina pours love and care on to Fanchon, yet she tries to persuade Fanchon to contact her estranged parents.
This is just the beginning of the thrilling bayou adventures, the search for Fanchons' attacker, the truth surrounding Lisettes' accident and the strange mysteries surrounding Fanchons' own family. For those of us unfamiliar with life in the bayou there are some fascinating facts to discover, the traditions of All Souls' Day and All Saints day, which serve to enrich the story. This is another great book from Nicole Loughan, and it lived up to my expectations, I'm eager for more!
Narrator
It's always pleasing when one narrator reads a series, especially when they perform as beautifully as Suzy Lexington. Consistently good, she brings the characters to life, Suzy connects her listeners to the characters and story, when I'm listening, they become real to me and as such, are difficult to forget. Great job.
This audiobook was gifted to me in return for this, my honest opinion.

Better that the first book!
I enjoyed this book very much. It was even better than the first book. It held my attention from beginning to end.
Suzy Lexington's narration was excellent as well! I love how she nails the Cajun accent and even pronounces the French words correctly. All of her voices, both male and female, are very believable and varied for each character.

Research before Writing
It is apparent that the author knows little about New Orleans and less about Cajuns. We do not have trolleys in New Orleans, we have streetcars. Only the stupidly drunk eats cold beignets. This could have been one book instead of two. The narrator was as bad as the author. She went in and out of an extremely bad Cajun accent into a simpering southern bell in the same sentence. She said Louisiana and New Orleans several times. Each time she pronounced them it was different than the last and the pronunciation was always incorrect. The story was interesting, but the inaccuracies of both the author and narrator got in the way of my enjoyment.
