About this listen

What is a young woman to do? One handsome young man has all the goodness, while the other the appearance of it. How is she to separate the gentleman from the cad?

When Darcy joins his friend, Bingley, on a trip to Meryton, the last thing on his mind is finding a wife. Meeting Elizabeth Bennet changes all that, but a rival for his affections appears from a most unlikely quarter. He must overcome his naturally reticent disposition if he is to have a chance of winning her favor.

Elizabeth's thoughts turn to love and marriage after her sister, Mary's, engagement. In a few short weeks she goes from knowing no eligible young men, to being courted by two. Both are handsome gentleman, but one conceals secrets and the other conceals his regard. Will she determine which is which before she commits to the wrong one?

Narration kills it.

How could the performance have been better?

I couldn't stand the narrator's performance at all. Her interpretation of male voices put in mind old crochety men. It's very off putting. I enjoyed the previous two volumes and I'm upset that the conclusion I was so excited to get was spoiled by the performance.

Narrator Ruined It

I had previously read thus book and decided to buy the audible version as well. What a waste of money. No author should ever let Pearl Hewitt narrate their works. She does a terrible job on voices and her normal, speaking voice is not much better. Please listen to the sample of the narrated book before buying. Personally I will never buy a Pearl Hewitt book again, I have several, each time hoping she would improve. If anything she is worse, in this one than the others I have, Read the printed version and be satisfied with that.

Very Good Story but...

Reader's voice was too babyish. They were young ladies. Her voice made them seem like preteens. And Jane the older sounded like a baby where as the youngest sounded older.

Excellent Pride & Prejudice Variation

An excellent third installment to the "Given Good Principles" series. In the first two books, we see back stories for Darcy and then Lizzy. in this book, we see how their different backgrounds affect their interactions once they meet. Highly recommended!

Great story

I enjoyed this story very much. The narrator is great as well. This was a story with a villain but Wickham is not in this story. Interesting take on this JAFF. I highly recommend this book to a Jane Austen fan fiction lover.

If only Darcy's voice were not so annoying

Interesting variation- a handsome but despicable Collins, new characters and different combinations of the couples.

Narration Terrible

Love these books and the audio books so far; however this one is like listening to a comedic farce. Narration is making me think of just reading the book again. Badly done.

Horrible Narration

The story is fine...but the narrator is atrocious! If you don't believe me just listen to the first chapter! UGH!!! It's painful to listen to her trying to create voices for the characters. I can't even finish listening to this. I'd like a refund...and for Audible to place big orange safety cones around this narrator as a warning to all! Beware!
