Publisher's summary

Can you imagine a new chemical compound, a nonaddictive designer drug that heightens your assertiveness, opens the door to your primal self, giving you an edge wherever you compete, whether on the street or the football field, in a classroom or a boardroom? Wouldn’t you be tempted to try it...just once? What happens if it releases uncontrollable rage and makes you a killer?

Jack In Top Form

Really enjoyed this listen. Great story, plenty of action and this narrator is growing on me. I initially liked the narrator of the three prequels better.

Old book, parts are outdated, but overall OK

Personally, I love reading and I understand that older books can be somewhat anachronistic (and sometimes triggering). For example, Tom Clancy, Michael Chrichton, and Dr. Wilson have all written books that can be cringe worthy because character descriptions and actions that don't make sense in this day and age. Like the other aforementioned authors, Dr. Wilson doesn't write women well but technically the female perspective isn't exactly front-and-center in this story.

Ultimately, he does manage to put together a great Lovecraftian horror story despite the above problems. Personally I loved all the repairman jack stories despite the fact that they don't age well. The overall arc is engaging and often unpredictable and made it a pleasure to read.

TL;DR: this is a one man A-Team story written in the 90s with a hint of supernatural evil that lurks in the background. Taken for what it is, it's a great book (and series) but adjust your expectations accordingly.

Another good Repairman Jack story

While not my favorite Repairman Jack novel, I feel that it was still well worth a listen. Jack is still portrayed as a larger than life hero, however this time deals with a less outlandish subject matter. While I was not as satisfied with the overall concept, it was still a gripping story. Christopher Price, once again, does a wonderful job with narrating this adventure, and has me ready to start the next story.

Drugs made from a demon. Not in Jack's town.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book and series to anyone who loves a strong leading character who doesn't follow anyone's rules but his own.

What was one of the most memorable moments of All the Rage?

When Jack tells the hunters that they might not be at the top of the food chain anymore in the "Pines".

Which character – as performed by Christopher Price – was your favorite?

I love Abe as the stereotypical Jewish shopkeeper.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Drugs made from a demon. Not in Jack's town.

Any additional comments?

All of Jack's fixes are rather brutal and not very clever in this book.

Excellent Listen

What was one of the most memorable moments of All the Rage?

When jack seen the shark man!

Have you listened to any of Christopher Price’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No i have not so i have nothing to compare it to. He did a good job though.

Any additional comments?

I listened to #11 and #12 before the first since they were the first on audio. I am very partial to Dick Hill. I have listened to all of this series that is on audio and they are Excellent!! Cant wait for the rest...hurry up and get them on here!

Another good Jack novel, same from this narrator

After starting with the pre-repairman Jack series with Alexander Cendese, Christopher Price will just never get 5 stars. He's good, but not Cendese good (impressively versatile). His Gia drives me nuts. It seems always annoyed and almost like a bad stage whisper. But as always, Wilson's writing is fast-paced, relatable (even in the most absurd of circumstances) and very interesting.
