About this listen

With their packs combined instead of feuding, Tess and Connor expect to get time to enjoy each other, but Connor’s new responsibilities as alpha keep them apart nearly as much as his old status as enemy number two used to.

On top of all that, the constant threat of bear attack is wearing away at even the combined pack. Eventually Connor realizes that the only promising way forward is to figure out what has made the bears so upset and broker a truce.

If only that road weren’t winding and fraught with danger for him, his pack, and especially his new mate and their coming child.

Another cliffhanger

While the story is ok, continuing on from book1 but featuring Connor this time, the narration leaves something to be desired. For one thing, the narrator does not always pronounce words correctly which is annoying. For another, her voice just doesn't fit the story and her cadence leaves a lot to be desired.

As I said, this book starts after the latest bear attack on the village, which was oddly enough broken up by Hunters. Connor is missing Tess who was sent off with the other women and children and decides he has to go and see her before interrogating Samantha. Tess comes back with him to talk to Sam herself and they finally find out why the bears keep attacking them. A wolf killed the alpha bear's mate, in cold blood. They all go off to visit the bears in the hopes of a truce. They end up finding Alex, Cynthia, and the other MC wolves and coming up with a plan to smoke out the murderer they are looking for. There will be a traitor that causes problems and a Hunter that turns out to be a disgruntled wolf.

Good

This is a average book. It's got a lot going on. Connor seems like a big crybaby to me. He's only doing what he does because he has to not because he wants to. He's doing the right thing, however if I didn't know he was Alpha I wouldn't believe it. Tess is our female lead. She can't do a lot because she's pregnant but I enjoyed the screwdriver thing. Crunch is the bomb. The antagonist is seriously messed up. He's actually my favorite. I would like to know more about Eli actually. I know he was abused by an older brother who's a Alpha. He killed his whole pack because of it. I'm not on his side by any means but I personally feel like he has the biggest personality. Even though he's a killer he is an Alpha. He's in denial about his shifter side but among a pack he rules supreme. It doesn't matter someone else bears the title. He would be an Alpha as a man. I enjoyed the narrator. The story didn't lag and the narrator did an excellent job. She used correct syntax and enunciation. She also separated the characters well. I always knew which role she was on. I'm excited to listen to the next one.
