About this listen

Lila Grace Carter talks to dead people. Admittedly, that's not out of the ordinary in Lockhart, South Carolina. In her words, "I'm Southern. We all talk to dead people down here. As a matter of fact, I don't believe I can truly trust anybody that doesn't speak to at least two or three dead relations on a daily basis. The difference is, they talk back to me."

Now there's a murderer on the loose in Lockhart, and Lila Grace is the only one who knows a crime was committed. Can she convince the sexy new sheriff that Jenny Miller didn't fall down the steps on her own? Will she catch the killer before another body is found? Does the sheriff think she's as attractive as she finds him?

Sweet and satisfying

Amazing Grace is a sweet and satisfying story with enjoyable characters, mystery, and romance plus just enough of the supernatural to pepper it up. The small-town southern setting gives great atmosphere. Lila Grace is the mature heroine I didn't know I wanted, but I'd like a lot more stories from the perspective of someone with some calm and experience please.

Mercy and Grace

Great Christian novel, with themes of mercy and grace, for both young adults . No pretence or hypocrisy here.

amazing Grace indeed

I loved the book. the audio version almost lost me because I didn't like the choice of narrator. in my opinion, she did every voice well except that of Lyla Grace. The accent was off. I live in SC and noone I've ever met sounds like that. Otherwise, it was awesome.

Excellent

I sincerely hope that the "dead old ladies detective agency" becomes a series!! That will be great.

I hope Mr.Hartness sees this...

I know some authors read their reviews, and even if they don't, their publishers do. It is my fervent hope that they decide to make this book into a series. Some series are written that shouldn't be but this isn't one of them.

I love these characters and setting. I really like reading about small towns and how their inhabitants fit together, especially in a mystery. A no-nonsense "old woman" and her sheriff beau make a great crime solving duo.

Please, John (and his publishers), give more life to these characters.

Like a Corny Murder She Wrote with Ghost

Might have been better if narrator wouldn't have been so sing-songy. this is story reminded me of a corny Murder She Wrote show. not interested in Reading another from this author or listening from this narrator l

Not for me

I didn't really like it. I felt that Lila Grace's character wasn't fully developed. The plot was also a bit far- fetched. Her actions and behavior didn't ring true. The sheriff also seemed off. I found myself skipping ahead to actually find the story.
