good conculsion to American empire trilogy, Turtledove does a good job weaving the story and tying loose ends and creating new perspectives for the next set of books. However Turtledove does love to use a few phrases constantly to describe things like coffee or characters expressions. if that doesn't bother you then this is a breeze, its alot of characters to keep track of but the narrator does a great job of keeping the voices consistent, even if he does t space out the character perspective shifts enough. Overall, this is a fantastic end and set up for the next trilogy.

calm before the storm

important to continue following all of the characters, but it's just a giant book of filler to make the universe feel more lived in.

important backstory, but meh

loved it

Many well integrated threads. The reader cares about the people and their upcoming fates. Abruptly ends with an opening into a next phase.
(What is the next in the series?)

Gripping

Probably the best best of the 3 books in the american empire series. Sad to have to finish the remaining books with a different narrator.

Good ending to the trilogy

Honestly it is quite impressive how the universe is fleshed out to be, while a mirror image of our own timeline in many ways, still a realistic estimation of what might have been. I loved that Harry argues regardless of who won the Great War, or who was in the White House, the Great Crash was inevitable.

One of my favorite Series

Turtledove is one of those authors I wish I had encountered earlier, I feel like I'm running to catch up with all of his books. I didn't know if I'd like the audio production, I consumed the others in print, but it's really terrific. Five stars.

Terrific performance of a terrific book
