About this listen

In planes and foxholes, in deserts and jungles, on ships and beaches, Ambrose shines a light on the people involved - the leaders, the fighters, the victims. With chapters on the atrocities of the Holocaust and revelations about the secret war of espionage, Ambrose's analysis also offers insight into the events that precipitated the Cold War.

Any student of history would really appreciate the depth and complexity presented in this volume. It’s a whole story approach to setting the stage behind the complex events on WW2 and the decisions leaders, armies, charlatans, and politicians took during this the most bloodiest of wars ever! A must read, a must listen! Enjoy!

An epic book with a great level of detail

This book is an excellent overview of World War II from start to finish. It often seems like a whirlwind tour, and topics change rapidly. But I guess that’s what has to happen when you condense WWII in to 8 hours. Good narration. Politically neutral, factually and event based. Recommended!

Excellent overview of WWII

…and let me tell you it was AMAZING. This has been the best description of WWII I have ever read, seen, or heard. It was like a very in-depth cliff notes version of the whole war. Ambrose did amazing covering every battle with enough description to not leave people wondering. It ties together perfectly everything I have ever learned about WWII. I’m going to buy the actual book now and read that just for fun it was that good.

First Ambrose Book…
