About this listen

In 1991, Chuck Mawhinney was reluctantly dragged out of anonymity when it was revealed that he held the record among United States Marine Corps snipers with over 103 confirmed kills.

This story takes a look at the mindset and philosophy of an American Sniper as he is thrown into Arizona territory (named as such because of its numerous Wild West style firefights) at the height of the Vietnam War.

American Sniper

Chuck Mawhinney is a former Marine, who performed his job to the highest standards, a great book about a great man in my opinion, not one to brag , his exploits speak for themselves, and just like other snipers , people look at the number of kills these Snipers had. But to see it another way, how many lives of Marines and other services were saved because of these men.

Way to short.

This is not even close to a book and the cost is not justified by the program.

Nearly a bait and switch

This is not a book. It’s a roughly thirty minute series of quotations from other sources. I believed I was buying a book on Chuck Mawhinney, and there is one available on audible but instead this short review pulls snippets from interviews and other sources to provide the briefest of overviews. It does cover an incredible part of American service but I would suggest it be advertised as a magazine article rather than a book.
