This was another wonderful gothic horror story from M.R. James. A historian learns of a dark chapter in the history of a cathedral. Church is no place of refuge. Wonderfully narrated.

A haunting vampire tale from the king of British ghost stories!
No pouty, misunderstood vampires here, this story is old-school.

A classic M.R. James ghost story about a mysterious tomb in a cathedral. The narration is perfectly suited to the story.

Listening to this ghost story of James' canon, I was struck at what a wonderful writer he was:
his use of a phrase, of a reference is just delightful. And the story... the mystery of the open prayer
books, Oliver Cromwell's birthday, and a mysterious visitor.. stuff of amazement.
Worthy of another 'read.'
