About this listen

"Entrancing...a great escape for any reader."--USA Today (four stars)

New York Times bestselling author Jenny Colgan brings us a delightful summer novel that will sweep you away to the remote Scottish island of Mure, where two very different weddings are about to take place…

On the little Scottish island of Mure—halfway between Scotland and Norway—Flora MacKenzie and her fiancé Joel are planning the smallest of “sweetheart weddings,” a high summer celebration surrounded only by those very dearest to them.

Not everyone on the island is happy about being excluded, though. The temperature rises even further when beautiful Olivia MacDonald—who left Mure ten years ago for bigger and brighter things—returns with a wedding planner in tow. Her fiancé has oodles of family money, and Olivia is determined to throw the biggest, most extravagant, most Instagrammable wedding possible. And she wants to do it at Flora’s hotel, the same weekend as Flora’s carefully planned micro-wedding.

As the summer solstice approaches, can Flora handle everyone else’s Happy Every Afters—and still get her own?

Ending

Great conclusion to the Mure Series. Definitely a surprise to the ending! Sad to have the series be over. Great book!

Love the storyline

That was another really lovely installment in the life of Mure and its inhabitants. I so hope the next book will bring back Saïf to the Island and they will finally be happy with Lorna.

As for the narration, it got better I think half way through the book when the narrator got more comfortable with it because for the first half, I thought I'd have to drop the audio and pick up the book. It was so annoying to listen to the exaggerated voices and it sounded so much like a reading and less like a natural conversation between people when Flora and Lorna were talking. Nobody talks like that! I did like that she took on the Scottish accent though, that was nice. By the end of the book, the narrator had acquired an ease that was so much lacking at first. Made me wonder if it was her first time narrating!

Sweet and heartbreaking

This story is very sweet and sometimes exciting, like the rest of the series. It does have some rather heartbreaking scenes, though, that are really drawn out in emotional detail. I was tempted to skip through some of that but hung with it. I’m anxious to see what comes next!

Enjoyable book but something missing

I really enjoy Jenny Colgan’s books. I really missed the story of Joel and Flora and the pregnancy… how they adjusted, the birth, their growth together. I felt like it was leaving so much unanswered. I missed Fenton and his further story. The same with Isla and Constantine. I enjoyed the book otherwise.

Loving the Mure Series!

I cannot wait for the next book. So many lovely characters but I enjoy the spunk of Miss Agat. She is written so well and brings such joy to the series. Can’t wait for the stories to continue.

Good - but not as good as the previous ones

It was nice to hear more about the Mure characters but the main plot (the wedding) seemed contrived to me, and not very relevant to Mure and the entire series. Less of the over the top wedding complications and more of the beloved characters would have made a difference for me. I enjoy Jenny Colgan’s books but this one is my least favorite of the Mure series. It tied up a couple of loose ends but others were unfortunately almost untouched.

Lovely Close-Knit Scottish Town Drama/Love Story

A great cast of characters and enjoyable story of family, friends, and a close knit community on an island in Scotland. Drama ensues when a huge wedding is planned on the island by a former resident, affecting the whole town in many different ways.
