About this listen

Life for Lady Adelaide Bell was easier if she hid in her older sister's shadow - which worked until her sister got married. Even with the pressure of her socially ambitious mother, the last thing she expected was a marriage of convenience to save her previously spotless reputation.

Lord Trent Hawthorne couldn't be happier that he is not the duke in the family. He's free to manage his small estate and take his time discovering the life he wants to lead, which includes grand plans of wooing and falling in love with the woman of his choice. When he finds himself honor bound to marry a woman he doesn't know, his dream of a marriage like his parents' seems lost forever.

Already starting their marriage on shaky ground, can Adelaide and Trent's relationship survive the pressures of London society?

Narrator ruined this touching story

I enjoyed this sweet story, but the narrator ruined it. Her horrible stilted narration, and horrible men's voices ruined it. I got through it, because I enjoy this series, but it was grating on the nerves

A GREAT ROMANCE WITH TROUBLED SOULS

An enjoyable story and characters surrounded by family - which can be good and bad. Agree Miss Dove's reading is lacking as stated in review of the previous book in this series. Otherwise, a wonderful love story with a very happy ending.

Love the book but not narration.

The book is lovely and fun listening to the ups and downs of a unplanned marriage in the early 19th century. I don’t want to be mean….but, in my opinion, I don’t enjoy listening to Ms. Dore. The female voices are ok while her ready is choppy. The male characters are supposed to be 24 and 27 years old and sound as if they’re 91. I really enjoyed listening to “A Noble Masquerade”, the first book in the series, narrated by Kristi Ann Hunter. She really put life in the characters as well as a nice lily to the voices which told you more about who the characters are. Trent is more of a jovial young man and is not portrayed as such in this book.

Slow start but worth the listen!

The beginning of the book is a little slow, and a bit confusing, but gets better as you listen. The ending it perfection!!

I love the book but not the narrator

The narrator did not do justice to this book at all. The story is great though!

Liked the Book!!

Really a very enjoyable read with very likable and a few unlikable ones too!! A plot built on a very interesting premise. Hints of a ruined reputation force a marriage proposal. I noticed that a few reviewers were not up for the narration. I however became used to her voice and liked it. I thought she did a very good job on different accents in both men and women. Enjoy another book in this delightful series.!

Good Story but narration is too rigid

I'm having a hard time with the narration. It sounds like the narrator is trying too hard to pronounce each word correctly, It comes off as too stiff and takes away from the story. I will speed it up and see if that helps.
