Publisher's summary

Family secrets and fresh romance collide in this heart-pounding Richter series installment by New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Catherine Bybee.

Jacqueline “Jax” Simon knows how to expose secrets: she’s a skilled operative with MacBain Security and Solutions. When Jax hears her parents are divorcing, she races to London to find out why. She’s determined to learn the truth, especially when her investigation uncovers why her parents sent her to Richter, the German military school that made her a fighter.

Andrew Craig collects Jax at Heathrow Airport as a favor. He’s heard she’s a handful, but he didn’t know she’s dangerously gorgeous too. His instant attraction could change his life...or end it.

Jax doesn’t want to fall for Andrew, but soon he’s worming his way into her life. Together, they infiltrate Richter to discover if it has returned to its covert purpose: training children to be spies and assassins and blackmailing parents to look the other way. As the attraction between the two intensifies, so do the secrets exploding all around them. How deadly are those secrets - and who will survive?

Good storyline

I am enjoying this series and appreciate that you get a full story even with the continuation of the overall storyline rather than a true cliffhanger. I am impressed with the number of accents the narrators had to manage, but not as impressed with the way the team members can lose their focus and get everyone into jams. It’s a pet peeve of mine that the characters who are supposed to be so well trained and observant get taken in or outmaneuvered by someone who often isn’t supposedly as good at what they do. I don’t think it’s necessary to drive the story and that’s what kept this from being a 5 star review.

Good story, performance not so much

I have enjoyed the story line on this series but have struggled at points with the performance. The accents and voices are not great. If you can listen with being annoyed by the performance it is a great story

Suspense and love

Another great addition to the Richter series and the overall series of weekday brides and first wives. I love how Katherine can develop a story that includes suspense drama and love looking forward to book 4

odd on audible

The changing of the voices was odd at times, but the story was wonderful.

unexpected ending

I sometimes could not distinguish Andrew's voice from Jacqs. It wasn't until I replayed the dialog that I understood the difference.
