ended too soon

Thought provocative work from a highly intelligent political activist who gained national and international stature as a former political prisoner.

The words and truths spoken are amazing and much needed; however the abrupt cutoff at the end really does not make any sense. Audible can do much better than that.

Needs an ending

We need to listen to what she has to say, even if one only hears her expressed her thoughts on social awareness at least once!

I came across this recording while in search of Dr. Davis' latest book "The Meaning of Freedom: And Other Difficult Dialogues." The last time I saw and "Angela Davis Speaks" recording it had been released in 1971 and I found it on iTunes. Perhaps this updated short performance is Audible's way of "testing the waters" to see if publications by this author will sell. In this age of electronic texts, things written and narrated by thinkers will most assuredly be profitable.

Angela Davis is one of the most important minds in existence today. The ideas and the issues she brings forth are relevant and will cause the listener to pause and rethink their own views. Her life has been spent in the pursuit of justice and her oratory arguments hit their mark time after time.

I would have given this 5 stars overall but the editing of this short narration leaves a bit to be desired. This recording is a series of topics (ideas) that have been culled from speeches Angela has given. The problem is that the segue between the topics (or ideas) is choppy so that the recording does not flow as it should. Granted this may have been acceptable back in 1971 when the original "Angela Speaks" was recorded, today the listener expects a recording that is tad amount to actually being in the lecture or performance hall with the orator.

Overall I enjoyed the recording and would purchase it again.

Thought provoking but could be edited better...

The audible experience of re-hearing her live speeches is my favorite part of this audiobook. It’s one thing to read her words but hearing the passion in her voice is powerful.

Thrilling

Although i love the content, but audio just ends abruptly, which is a bit disappointing.
