About this listen

Hold your breath…The future is three miles underwater. And Jazwyn Ripley's time has come.

Earth’s atmosphere will only support a few more generations, and most of advanced society has already relocated to the sea. To survive, only one option remains for the Topsiders - get into Gaia Sur, the elite academy on the ocean floor. But after Jazwyn Ripley trains a lifetime for the chance, something is wrong in the interviews. Her evaluation isn’t like those of her soul-rattled classmates, and now, Arco Hart is desperate to protect her from something he won't talk about.

Cryptic messages coming from the earth's core. A charming, but infamous rival who knows why. Everything is telling her to walk away, but for the struggling class at the bottom, there’s nowhere to go but down. The road to everything the cadets ever wanted turns out to lead somewhere they never intended to go, and one decision will change the course of their lives for good: Continue on the scripted path, or chase something deeper?

Adrenaline rush action.

Heart-stopping romance.

Great Book, Great Narration

I am looking forward to more in this series!
Aqua was a great story. This was not a typical predictable teen action adventure. Good characters, each with their own personality, that were creative and interesting. The interaction between the characters will keep you engaged through the whole book. I had a weekend and didn't want to stop listening!

Absolutely Excellent!

I read this series a while back and being able to experience it again through Dana Dae's narration was fantastic! She does a great job narrating for Jazz's POV and was incredibly consistent in her tone and pitch for each character when they spoke. I highly recommend this!

New take on underwater life

This book is so different from any sci-fi book I've read, and I really liked it. There's lots of little side romances too, and I don't who she is going to wind up with. are so many secrets her and her crew are trying to unravel about the school they have gotten into. there are clones in this book, underwater sea travel, and even teleportation. the strangest part for me was not knowing if the characters were more people or if they were humans in a dystopian world where humans live under the sea because they did have certain communities that were above water and then they had communities in the water there's also ships that are called stingrays as well as actual stingrays so I did get a little confused but overall I really enjoyed the story even if I didn't exactly know everything that was going on.

Fantastic

I love the characters and the chemistry between them. I wish Jazz was a little tougher but I'm holding out hope that she will get there. They all have so much room to grow and I expect them to do just that going forward into the next book. The world that the author has created has me in awe. The underwater school is hard to wrap your mind around but once you do...! And the technology??!! Unreal!! This is science fiction at it's best. The love triangle... I love them both and can't decide who I'd like to see Jazz end up with. The ending gutted me even though I saw it coming, it still gutted me. The narrator done a great job in bringing the story to life.I'm chomping at the bit for book two. Fantastic!! Highly recommend!!
