Good addition to series

I wasn’t as interested in this book in the series as I was others. I found myself getting irritated with Alex’s “teenage-ness”-attitude etc annoying at times. It didn’t seem to fit with the action series this is. Overall it moves the storyline forward in the series. Unfortunately that means following along with a parent-teen relationship.

Incongruities

To be fair, just started this book, will update if my mind changes, but a Desert Eagle .50 Cal doesn't shoot .44 Magnum rounds... just fyi

Old School - like 50’s/60’s

I respect and admire the writer’s life and experience. I read his first three books in this series. The story is good, but the writing style is toooooo old fashioned. I couldn’t take it any longer when the lead character called his wife a hussy. I don’t think my parents talk like that and they are in their 80’s. No one talks like that any longer and this isn’t a period piece. I wanted to listen, but I just can’t. Not sure about the age of narrator, but he has done well to get into character too. He sounds like he is 70+, but the lead character in the book is a guy in his 40’s. It just doesn’t work.

could not finish

This book is so full of trivial worthless content, that I fast forwarded through 50% of it until I gave up and quit listening to it.

really bad writing.

Incompetence and miracles

There is a definite theme to this book. The characters make bad choices, mistakes, or dumb decisions and are sure to die, then a miracle happens, chapter end. Repeat.

I’m not expecting, or even wanting, realistic from a book like this, but wow. You’re expected to believe that repeated incompetence is rewarded by some miracle over and over.
