Publisher's summary

In the wake of a brutal war, the archangel Raphael and his hunter consort, Elena, are dealing with the treacherously shifting tides of archangelic politics and the people of a battered but not broken city. The last thing their city needs is more death, especially a death that bears the eerie signature of an insane enemy archangel who cannot - should not - be walking the streets.

This hunt must be undertaken with stealth and without alerting their people. It must be handled by those who can become shadows themselves. Ash is a gifted tracker and a woman cursed with the ability to sense the secrets of anyone she touches. But there's one man she knows all too well without a single instant of skin contact: Janvier, the dangerously sexy Cajun vampire who has fascinated and infuriated her for years. Now, as they track down a merciless killer, their cat-and-mouse game of flirtation and provocation has turned into a profound one of the heart. And this time, it is Ash's secret, dark and terrible, that threatens to destroy them both.

Still love this world.....BUT....

First and foremost, this ties for the best series EVER with Black Dagger Brotherhood of course! BUT...this book left me a bit flat. I don't know why, I guess it came across more as a psy changling book than a guild hunter book....all the players where there but they didn't gel exactly like they have in previous novels, it almost felt like a short, even though it was 12 hours long.

Very sad that is wasn't 22 hours long like the pre-order stated, but still wonderful to visit the world of the Guild Hunters...but I think I just wanted to hear more from Raphael and Ellena. If you are a fan of the series it is a must have, but for the first time this series has let me down.

Still worth downloading every book though, and the narration was wonderful as always!!!

Perfect ending to Ash's story

Even though it's not technically an ending to her story. But it's the beginning of a new period. Last time I read this series I actually stopped at the beginning of this book and took a break. I can get burnt-out reading the same series if there are too many books in one series. This time I'm excited to continue. I'm much more connected to the characters.

Love this Series, But....

I absolutely love the Archangel series. However, I wasn't all that interested in the 2 main character's story line. I preferred catching up with Raphael, Elena and the 7 much more. Even though the story was written well, I just kept wanting to FF through the other parts.

Ash and Janvier just didn't do it for me. With that said - I'm still a big fan of the series.

Full of joy, sorrow & charm

The ongoing flirtation and competition between Ashwini & Janvier, which has been a source of entertainment for both the Guild & the Tower, matures into more. The quirkiness & spookiness that is Ashwini syncs with the charm & guile that is Janvier as they navigate their separate investigations in post-battle NY. We get to appreciate the sweetness of Janvier's relationship with his family & their descendants; along with the love and sorrows of Ashwini's relationship with her family. I also elect Ellie to host all parties. Well done, Singh & Eyre.

it get`s better with each book

There is other series, that just feel like repeats , over and over, same thing, just different names to the characters, but Nalini Singh truly is a genius. This book made me laugh and cry and had me by the edge of my seat. Can`t wait to read the next one

Another great edition!

I just love this series. Justine is a favorite narrator & she does such a good job of dropping me into the story & giving the characters life. Ash & Janvier’s story was another great one.
