About this listen

A middle-aged woman, who likes to entertain, had recently lost her spouse and thought that her life was worthless and she was useless. She had been putting mementos and photos in a scrapbox and album and reminiscing, when she had the idea to throw a party asking each guest to bring something old and nostalgic - a hankie, piece of jewelry, small tool, souvenir, button, playbill, or other small item. The idea was that each guest would have to tell the story behind the item.

Little did the woman know that some guests would have surprising secrets to which their memento was tied. A prior life, a lost child, an accident - many had sadness attached to their mementos, but kept them to tie them to reality.

After listening to all the sad stories, the woman decides her life wasn't so bad after all, and that she had a purpose of being a friend to these people.

LOVELY STORIES AND WELL TOLD!

What did you love best about As I Sit Here Listening?

it was touching and very heartfelt....

Who was your favorite character and why?

All the ladies were wonderful...and something to offer to the story equally...

Which scene was your favorite?

The end, when the ladies find out they shared a love of a lifetime...

If you could rename As I Sit Here Listening, what would you call it?

I would not do that....and I hate this question audible...

Any additional comments?

This is a sad, but heartfelt story of loss and love..a small group of friends get together to share mementos and tell there stories...they pour out there hearts and learn things about each other and even find out secrets that people keep hidden deep...I loved this...I would have given it 5 stars across the board except there was a huge editing mistake near the beginning...and in audio books I find that unacceptable...a small one, I can overlook..but this is a not small...it did not ruin it for me..and I do recommend giving this a listen...but it really should be edited out....

Really a Beautiful Story

Narration - Karen Rose Richter - Narration was really pretty good. There were some editing errors that were a little distracting but as a narrator, she really seemed to be the perfect voice for this piece.

The story was really kind of beautiful.

The main character has lost her husband and is having a hard time dealing with her grief. She invites her circle of friends to come together and each bring something that they will always keep as a memento and to share the story of it with each other.

We get to hear several stories of loss, inspiration, sadness and joy and, as I said, it really is quite beautiful.

Really, enjoyed it!
