About this listen
Anthony Spencer is egotistical, proud of being a self-made business success at the peak of his game, even though the cost of winning was painfully high. A cerebral hemorrhage leaves Tony comatose in a hospital ICU. He 'awakens' to find himself in a surreal world, a 'living' landscape that mirrors dimensions of his earthly life, from the beautiful to the corrupt. It is here that he has vivid interactions with others he assumes are projections of his own subconscious, but whose directions he follows nonetheless with the possibility that they might lead to authenticity and perhaps, redemption. The adventure draws Tony into deep relational entanglements where he is able to 'see' through the literal eyes and experiences of others, but is "blind" to the consequences of hiding his personal agenda and loss that emerge to war against the processes of healing and trust. Will this unexpected coalescing of events cause Tony to examine his life and realize he built a house of cards on the poisoned grounds of a broken heart? Will he also have the courage to make a critical choice that can undo a major injustice he set in motion before falling into a coma?

Story
Eve is a bold, unprecedented exploration of the creation narrative, true to the original texts and centuries of scholarship - yet with breathtaking discoveries that challenge traditional misconceptions about who we are and how we're made. As The Shack awakened listeners to a personal, nonreligious understanding of God, Eve will free us from faulty interpretations that have compromised human relationships since the Garden of Eden.

The Poisonwood Bible is a story told by the wife and four daughters of Nathan Price, a fierce, evangelical Baptist who takes his family and mission to the Belgian Congo in 1959. They carry with them everything they believe they will need from home, but soon find that all of it - from garden seeds to Scripture - is calamitously transformed on African soil. I was warned about Tristan Cole. "Stay away from him," people said. "He's cruel." "He's cold." "He's damaged." It's easy to judge a man because of his past. To look at Tristan and see a monster. But I couldn't do that. I had to accept the wreckage that lived inside of him, because it also lived inside of me.

When ballet dancer Clara Campbell arrives in New Orleans, lonely and homesick, she is immediately captivated by the story of Windisle Plantation and the tragic tale that is said to have transpired beyond its gate. Legend has it that it is abandoned by all living souls, but to Clara’s great surprise, it is not a ghost she hears through the stone wall surrounding the property, but a flesh and blood man: a scarred stranger with a pain deeper and darker than the churning waters of the Mississippi river that flows beside his self-imposed prison.

One off the very best books I have ever read
I read and loved The Shack many times but I hadn't even heard of Cross Roads. I have to say I loved it so much. This feels like a life changing read. I also really loved the narration. He's so good. Thank you again Paul Young.

When was the last time you read a book that literally changed your life?
I stayed up all night to finish Cross Roads. I almost didn't read it, because it started out a little slow, but I am oh so thankful I did. I absolutely loved it! In fact, I can't decide whether to listen to it again right now, or re-read The Shack, or read another of his books called Eve. Oh this was so good!!

If you read; The Shack...then get ready for Cross
This is a story of redemption. You work out the past with Tony/Anthony through this book. The reader does a great job! All the different voices and attitudes. If you read/listened to the shack & enjoyed it then you will also enjoy this one. The emotion is so raw that I ened up wiping tears away at times. And I don't cry a lot ever, about anything. Not as sad as the Shack because it's not about a kidnapped, never found lil girl. But just as powerful in so many ways.
I've read this and The Shack as well. I've bought extra copies just to give away. I buy audio books so my husband can enjoy the same books on trips. However, I find my self listen to books now more than music. Man I am getting old. If you read to escape you can listen to escape as well. We listen to audible books on our boat as we fish. It gives us other things to talk aboutthan our mundane ins & outs of each day. It's omething we can do together or apartand still have a common bond, topic, interest.
These books are worth your money. They may even change your life, if you let them.

We Have Purpose Until We Draw Our Last Breath
This is a great book on it's own merit or to accompany "The Shack"'; The manifestation of the Triune God helps bring an understanding to those that have a hard time grasping the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as one. Mr. Young's imagination is powerful and had me cracking up at times and examining my conceptions of people at others. This was well read by Mr. Mueller. It, along with the superb character building and storyline by Mr. Young, brought the book to life. I highly recommend it.
