No Internet. No communication network. No power. Now survive.
Ten days after a massive cyber attack tears a hole in the nation's infrastructure and brings the country to its knees, Sam, Anna, Mason, and Amanda are preparing for the worst as the town of Breckenridge, Colorado is about to break. Haunted by his past, and determined to keep his daughter safe, Sam is forced to make some tough decisions and risk it all.
A cyber attack was the beginning; a second attack is coming.
The anonymous cyber terrorist group isn't satisfied with disrupting the system - they want to destroy it. America was just the beginning. When a broken stranger makes his way into the Breckenridge town hall meeting, the terrifying news he brings will rock the community.
With a worldwide disaster on the horizon, what would you do?
As We Break is the epic conclusion in the Against All Odds series. It is a postapocalyptic survival thriller series about human connection and fighting to survive when the grid goes down.

I thought this was a good continuation from book 1. It seemed to pick up right where the first book leaves off. That being said, if you haven't listened to/read the first book, you won't know what is going on. You could definitely put these two together and it would be a seamless story. The narration is fantastic, as usual, from Kevin Pierce. I would definitely recommend this series to any fans of apocalyptic genres.
great 2nd book

several of the storylines usher character through motions absent believable impetus for their actions: Hackers vengefully want to launch nuclear missiles in response for serving a few years in prison.
A father believing his daughter is too good for her husband decides to plan his son in laws murder.
just enough

I have searched through all of your books Mr Hunt hoping that you would have some box sets and sad to see that you don't but that's ok. This is the first set of your books that I've listened to and I have to say that I'm very pleased with your writings and that I will continue to listen to your other books especially the ones narrated by Kevin Pierce .
I have to be honest with you by saying that all credit to me finding your books goes to Kevin Pierce as I had done a search for post apocalyptic books narrated by Kevin Pierce and that is how I came across your books. As you know I'm sure that there are a lot of authors out that have written post apocalyptic survival books and I've tried a few that haven't been narrated by Kevin Pierce and most of them honestly I haven't finished because no one brings a story to life and keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting in excitement to see what's going to happen next quite like Kevin Pierce does. I have hundreds of hours into listening to books narrated by many but I find myself wishing there were more Kevin Pierce's out there. He is unfortunately a one of a kind and as I'm sure you can tell he is my most favorite narrator of all time. I have probably passed over numerous authors that have probably written some great books just because of who the narrator is or should I say isn't. LOL
I don't know how many authors out there realized in today's world of just how important the choice for narrator of their book truly is , but in many cases it's at least for me the actual selling point.
I'm pleased to see that you have made Kevin as your narrator for several of your books and you can be rest assured that I will buy every one that he narrates !
Thanks for a great book.
Hopefully maybe in the future I'll get to see you offer some box sets , fingers crossed. LOL
Mr Hunt it would be very interesting to know if you and I are possibly related as my mothers maiden name was Hunt and my grandfather grew up in Macon North Carolina. Anyways thanks again.
Sincerely, W.R.Freeman
Great post apocalyptic survival book!

Since it’s book 2 I will do an overview with bits of book one to get a feel for it. There was an event that knocked out the power grid. Terrorism ? Solar flare? In such a situation rumors fly but how do you get the real news? There is no real news available due to the outage. Where do you get food when the trucks are not rolling? The things you have people get desperate and will go pay you a visit armed to the teeth What will you do?
This is a story of these types of situations Centered around a family with peripheral people they encounter. They live in a small town in Colorado and are just trying to survive. Sam does does not have any super Ninja skills. Just an average person trying to keep the family alive and now in book 2 his town safe and functional.
If you like real life ( well maybe LOL) situations with great characters that are relatable give it a listen; its fun and reminds me of the old movie theater serials that were just fun to watch. Plop in your easy chair by the fire and let old Kevin read you a story ..
I was given the book to review. If I like it I will say so if not I say why I did not like it this one is 4 out of 5 survival kits
Another slam dunk by Jack Hunt

Great ending

This one starts slow, the gets good, then fizzles out at the end! There were a lot of things I found to be unbelievable and in my opinion, quite silly! It's hard to talk about some of the things because they are major spoilers, but I'll do my best with the non spoilery parts.
Anna and Sam are coming to terms with her mothers death, and the end of life as they knew it, but their life isn't too bad. Her grandfather seems to have everything and she's not wanting for anything. They have a fence around his place, and bars on the windows. In fact, the whole town where they live seems to be doing good. There is a bit of unrest when the town is told to hand over all their weapons, but that fizzled out way too quickly.
Annas' grandfather is a piece of work!! What he tries to do to Sam was.... I don't know, I was shaking my head because I didn't think the character he asked would have done it and Sam wouldn't have been so naive when the shot came near him. I think he would have put two and two together! But again, that little story line fizzled out and never got a resolution either.
Possible spoilers!!!! Another part of the plot that annoyed me and seemed unbelievable was when Sam was sent on a certain task. A certain character comes to their town and tells them he is responsible for everything! He is the hacker, and he knows that the group responsible for making him commit the act is about to undertake something even worse..... Why would he turn up in a small town and blab his sins!! Why would they not inform the authorities and get qualified men to save the world!! Instead Sam and a few others go.
To me, the whole plot felt rushed. The ending definitely felt the most rushed and I did not like it at all!!!! I wanted to give up a few times but I also wanted to see what happened because I did like the characters!!
In all, I really think this should have been one decent sized book, instead of two. I feel like the story could have been great, but instead it just felt rushed and suffered because of it. 2.5 stars!!
Kevin Pierce is the voice of Post Apocalyptic books. He has read so many of them!! He is clear and easy to follow and has plenty of tones and voices for the characters.
I was given this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts.
Disappointing.
