About this listen

They stole her magic.

They killed her friends.

Nothing in the multiverse will stop her quest for revenge.

Kate Rossdale once held all the promise of becoming Baltimore’s greatest sorceress. But a promise is a hard thing to hold when your coven is murdered, your magic is stripped away, and the only solace left to you comes one powdered line at a time.

When she’s offered the restoration of her power by a man she doesn’t know or trust, Kate sets in motion the retribution of her enemies.

Soon she finds herself racing across the globe, and across worlds, venturing into exotic realms of forbidden dreams, to the spires of Lost Carcosa, hunting for the magic-thief who robbed her of everything she held dear, including the most dangerous magic any sorceress can possess - hope.

One of the industry’s best narrators.

Caroline Shaffer gave a phenomenal performance of one of the best urban fantasy stories I’ve listened to on audible.

I love the steady drip of horror elements that weave their way through this story giving me all my favorite elements from different series. It’s worth listen or two at least.

Solid enough fantasy

Didn’t have the same engagement as the holy blades, but it was a fun read.

Good, but not my style.

I love Seth Skorkowsky from YouTube to his books, but this just isn't my style or subject matter. I much preferred his Valdican series. nothing terrible just didn't grab me.as much as the others.

Much more than just Urban Fantasy

Awesome story. I hope that more books from this world will be soon forthcoming.

Very Enjoyable

I would have given four and a half stars if had that been an option. If you want Shakespeare, this is probably not the book for you. If you want good engrossing fantasy try it out.

A long enchanting and thrilling ride.

This took me a while to get through but it was very much worth my time. I truly enjoyed the setting and the characters. I was heartbroken when some of them met their end. Seth has such a way with the gory details, its morbidly fasinating. Caroline did such a wonderful job reading and helped amplify the impact of events thought the book for me. I honestly hope this gets some sort of spin off following Spire. It'd be interesting to see the world through their perspective. Overall this wonderful book was a delight and a joy to read.

I Want More of This!

This is one of those stories that is insanely difficult to stop listening to or reading (I own both Kindle and Audible versions). I keep wanting more and more and was saddened when the book had ended. Not because of the ending itself, but because the story was over. Ashes of Onyx offers sorcery in modern day times, which is something I absolutely love! I am really glad I own this book! It is THAT GOOD! Seth Skorkowsky tells a fantastic story and Caroline Shaffer is one the best narrators I've ever heard! I almost felt like I was there witnessing everything.

It would be beyond awesome if this becomes a series of books, or maybe a major motion picture! Mr. Skorkowsky, if you read this, thank you! Thank You! and THANK YOU!

What a World

Mr. Skorkowsky has a way of creating worlds that beg to be explored! I had high hopes after reading the Valducan series and he exceeded all of them. I greatly hope to see a return to this at some point.

Ms. Shaffer is quite an entertaining performer and especially sells the anger and frustration the main character directs to others very well.

Good over all

Mostly good but it did have some race baiting BS that’s too common nowadays. It had no reason for being there other than self righteous virtue signaling and did literally nothing for the story, just tacked on

Seth never disappoints

I love Seth's books...I was first introduced to Seth (I won't insult him by butchering his last name) via his role playing YouTube channel.
Then. I picked up his books & they're just as good as i would expect from a master DM/GM.
