About this listen

Obedience is better than sacrifice and trumps romance, no matter how sweet.

Profound loneliness propels a childless widow west with the idea of choosing an orphan to share her life. On the way, a fellow traveler takes her by surprise. She never dreams, is unprepared, doesn't need another man, but can't get him out of her head or heart. He's so perfect, every bit the one she'd searched for as a young woman, except that his mistrust of God has erected a wall she cannot breach.

Marcus Ford blames God and struggles for peace after losing his wife and baby. Not once has he considered another woman could be the answer, but the widow is like none other he's ever met. He falls hard, but plans are taking him east. Hope dashed sends two hearts into the pit. If only Ford could forgive God or the widow ease up on her adamant resolve.

Will God's mercy shine a beacon in the fog of despair and prove sufficient to heal their souls?

This was such an emotional book for me. Caryl has brought these characters alive so much that I can feel their heartache and triumphs. This is Rebecca's story two years after her husband Wallace died from the war. Well he had actually been stubborn and could have lived but you will just have to read or listen to find out. But talking about Wallace just broke my heart for him thinking Rebecca had just settled for him.
Now Rebecca is traveling to California and intends on adopting a child or maybe two since she and Wallace were never blessed with any. She meets a man on the stage who actually knew her and served with Wallace and her other male kin.
I am not going to say anymore because there are a lot of twist and turns on their journey and I encourage you to listen.
The narrator changed in this book and I have to say I really missed Lisa Baarns, but after awhile I began to enjoy Ginger.
Don't miss this or any of this series and you should start from the beginning to get the full story, Simply wonderful.

A truly enjoyable book. This book shows how trusting in God, even when your heart is broken, can lead you to great joy. Trusting in God as she mourns the loss of her husband leads Rebecca to fill her empty life. Whar plans does God have for Rebeca? Walk with Rebecca and see where God leads her.

I felt like this was well written and the characters were well developed. This book was fun to read as it contained excitement and humor. Rebecca had to forgive herself for her past mistakes and move on with her life after her husband passed. It was nice to see how the story moved forward after that.

I was given a free audio copy of this book by the author and I am voluntarily leaving this review.

Enjoyed!
