About this listen

"Eyre's British accent gives the production the feeling of a literary classic..."- AudioFile

From the beloved, bestselling author of
Elektra and Ariadne, a reimagining of the myth of Atalanta, a fierce huntress raised by bears and the only woman in the world’s most famous band of heroes, the Argonauts

Princess, Warrior, Lover, Hero

When Princess Atalanta is born, a daughter rather than the son her parents hoped for, she is left on a mountainside to die. But even then, she is a survivor. Raised by a mother bear under the protective eye of the goddess Artemis, Atalanta grows up wild and free, with just one condition: if she marries, Artemis warns, it will be her undoing.

Although she loves her beautiful forest home, Atalanta yearns for adventure. When Artemis offers her the chance to fight in her name alongside the Argonauts, the fiercest band of warriors the world has ever seen, Atalanta seizes it. The Argonauts' quest for the Golden Fleece is filled with impossible challenges, but Atalanta proves herself equal to the men she fights alongside. As she is swept into a passionate affair, in defiance of Artemis's warning, she begins to question the goddess's true intentions. Can Atalanta carve out her own legendary place in a world of men, while staying true to her heart?

Full of joy, passion, and adventure, Atalanta is the story of a woman who refuses to be contained. Jennifer Saint places Atalanta in the pantheon of the greatest heroes in Greek mythology, where she belongs.

Great tale

A fun adventure, not too complex but very enjoyable. Jennifer Saint’s novels are perfectly palatable

A great story!!

Loved this book so much, the story was amazing and I could really picture the scenes in my head. My only dislike (and it was minor really), I could hear the person reading swallowing haha

Loved this

I really enjoyed this book! This was a story that I wasn’t familiar with. I resisted the urge to look her up online while I was reading, so I got to enjoy being surprised! Another great myth about a strong woman. I’m so glad this genre came to be!

Great representation of Atlanta’s story

I love Greek mythology and I love Atalanta as one of those characters from Greek mythology, and this book did an amazing job of representing her in a light that I honestly enjoyed. The only issue that I had with the voice actor was that the pronunciations of some of the Greek names were off, but nonetheless the book is amazing and I highly recommend it.

another (great) female-perspective Greek era mythology

not typically a fan of female narrators but, for this story, it was absolutely appropriate and quite well done.

I loved to story.

I enjoyed this book and the reading of it from beginning to end. She took a story that is usually interpreted at a duped woman and illustrated her dignity.
