About this listen

Welcome to the hotel where nobody checks out. When a desk clerk welcomes a group of tourists into his mysterious and crumbling hotel, the last thing he expects is that a lone girl on his tour may hold the power to unravel the hidden mystery that has lain for untold centuries within the structure’s walls. The Grand Hotel is a horror novel by esteemed best-selling author Scott Kenemore (Zombie, Ohio) that takes the reader on a thrilling ride through an interconnected series of stories narrated by the desk clerk and the residents of the hotel itself. And while it is not known whether or not the desk clerk is actually the devil incarnate, it is strange that so many visitors who come for a tour of the hotel have a way of never leaving. As the narrator takes you deeper and deeper into the heart of the hotel, secrets that have been hiding for aeons begin to show themselves. Although he is quite prepared for this experience, there is some question as to whether or not the rest of the world shares this readiness. Kenemore's incredible style and originality carry The Grand Hotel to places most people only see in their nightmares. And while we don’t know all of the secrets that lie within the Grand Hotel, we know that the person who does hold that knowledge puts fear into the narrator himself - a thought that ought to terrify everyone.

Absolute recommendation, fantastic...

This book was beyond amazing... I honestly just picked it at random because I needed background noise while studying for exams... the storyline had me in such a trance that I had to force myself to turn it off and go to bed... at some stages of the book, I had to relisten because it had me absolutely fascinated... I sometimes forgot that the stories were told by someone in the hotel due to the way it was described, but it felt as if I was transported to the destinations... this, of course, is also due to the amazing talents of the narrator... some stages had me thinking "but this person sounds like they should be dead" my mind explode so many possibility, the memories of these people where somehow intertwined with the history of the hotel, the hotel has powers causing time to stand still and the guests never aged, at one point I thought that they might be lost souls or ghosts... the narrator was so amazing I had to check to make sure it was only one person... the switch between voices was like no other... the way he told the story had me enchanted... I went and looked him up on Google and then went and got every book he narrated... this type of book has never really caught me interest or made me want to read more, but the way he told the story was memorizing... I am definitely looking forward to reading/ listening to more books narrated by him...

The books, the narrator, the storyline, everything was just excellent...

Surprisingly good!

Several fun short stories couched in a slightly creepy overarching narrative. Fun little twist at the end too.

Ioved this book

I loved this book! It’s a very weird obscure book that’s seems like a eclectic assortment of shenanigans juxtaposed at the end in a very unpredictable manner it isn’t untill the last last chapter u realize what’s going on

The Grand Hotel

I found this quite enjoyable. The stories told, the purpose they serve, the residents are all mysteries that need to be unraveled. As you explore the hotel bits and pieces are given to you encouraging you to keep going. It is a bit long winded towards the middle but the narrator was excellent and made some the tedious moments more bearable. Like another reviewer wrote, it’s not something I would have spent a credit on intially, but I’m so glad I came across it in the Audible Plus catalog.

Very intriguing!!

I was captivated from the beginning and the story held my interest. I really hated that the story ended... wanted it to keep going. Christian Rummel is excellent!! Thoroughly enjoyed.

Wandering

I feel like this book where short stories that were not fully captivating enough on their own and felt a bit pointless as a whole.

Gave up and didn’t finish.

Excellent narration!

Had I not known the truth, I would have bet a lot of money that this was voiced by several people. From a young girl to an old British clergyman to a deep sonorous tour guide this narrator did it all.

The individual stories within the framework of book were, like most anthologies, varied. I enjoyed them all but none blew my socks off. The premise of telling the stories as a tour group encounters each resident/story teller was a unique concept. Overall it's a solid book with an exceptional narrator.
