About this listen

Survivor meets The Bachelor in Attached at the Hip, an irresistible, romantic adventure by New York Times bestselling author Christine Riccio.

Orie Lennox has spent her entire life prepping for her happily ever after—and now that she’s graduated, she’s low-key wondering, when the heck is it gonna hit. Her love life, her new job, her relationship with her sister: none of it is quite what she envisioned it to be.

One evening, on a whim, she applies for a reality show where she’ll be stranded on an island, with a bunch of strangers, to play a game of human chess for a shot at a million dollars. What better way to force herself to break up with the things that aren’t bringing her joy, than to abandon them all on short notice to live off the grid on a beach in the South Pacific!

Orie's shocked when she ends up cast in an experimental romantic edition of the show: and even more surprised to find that her old high school crush, Remy, has been cast as well. Orie's one of ten contestants, set to compete in formidable challenges, while speed dating, in the wilderness: without deodorant, toilets, shaving cream, or showers. (How!?)

She finds herself tied up—literally—in a game of risky alliances as she navigates ever-growing feelings for her one that got away, alongside an exciting array of budding new relationships.

Survivor meets Are you the One

If you love Survivor and any kind of dating show, you’re definitely going to obsess over this. It does have some millennial cringe moments, but you can look past that as the characters and story is extremely well written and fleshed out and the narrator tells the story in the most engaging way.

Survivor meets romance comedy

It felt like watching a new survivor season with some twists… a lot of twists… like the parts that get on the editing floor. It was a great listening experience and now I want to read the other titles by the author.

her best book yet

I read all 3 of her books so far. And I have to say this is my favorite so far. The character is still a little bit annoying at some parts as most of her characters are, but this one seems a bit more realistic and grounded. She had a good personality and good energy. I also like that the story took some twists and turns and pulled out some stops that I wasn't expecting. It made me want attached at the hip to be a real show on tv. Overall really good!

Recommend to any rom-com lover!

Have you ever wondered what would happen if the bachelor franchise merged with survivor? I have never thought about that either BUT NOW after reading this book I CANNOT UNSEE IT and I NEED it. This book concept was so FUN! I loved the game show aspect and couldn’t put this book down! Recommend to any rom-com lover looking for something out of the box.

SPOILER FREE (VAGUE)

I've listened to all of Christine's books up to this one.

In all honesty Christine's first book "Again, but better" was just . . . not good. But the first pancake isn't the best pancake.

I'm going to keep my review on here as SPOILER FREE as possible because the book just came out.

I initially gave this book a chance because I grew up watching Survivor with my family. It was the one show we all watched together. My sister and I would watch The Bachelor/Bachelorette together. I don't really care for the show, but my sister presented that she liked it so I watched it with her for bonding.

The combination aspect of "Attached at the hip" gave more of a "Love Island" with a twist vibe.

The only thing I would take into consideration is the numerous pop culture references throughout this entire book. As a 1997s baby I get ALL the references of Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Hannah Montana, Titanic, Divergent and more references. However for the longevity of the story, specific pop culture references will not age this book well. (maybe that's the point)

Overall I enjoyed the story. There's character development, funny moments and fluidity in the storyline.
Christine is improving in her craft as an author.
I wonder if her fourth book will also include Shane. Same Universe? Maybe?
