About this listen

Billionaire. Playboy. Her brother's best friend. And her baby's daddy?

The last time I saw Joanna, she was just a kid, following me around like a puppy dog. But now that she's all grown up, those curves make me want to get behind her. Make her moan my name.

Her overprotective brother would never let it happen. But I like a challenge. It can be our little secret.

Until her abusive ex-boyfriend shows up in town and ruins everything. If he even tries to lay a finger on her...he'll regret it.

I'll do anything to protect my new family. No matter what.

Contains mature themes.

I wanted to like it

It turned out to be a DNF for me. She ran from an abusive relationship then refused to do anything to keep herself safe. She hid the fact that he called and threatened her on her office phone. Then she kept saying “sure he found my office phone number but he doesn’t know where I am” and “he won’t be able to find me”. If you google the office number, the business name and address will come up. Not to mention the office number is registered to the business so he would have known that before calling her. Also she refused to get a restraining order. I just couldn’t continue with this story line.

Ok

The story was fine. Not the worst thing I've read, but BOY do I get tired of reading about heroines who are freaked out about a dangerous ex but stubbornly refuse to file a restraining order or allow others to walk them to their cars. WTH! Stop being so stupid.

3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The premise was fine, but it was like a thesaurus was the author’s favorite tool

I HATE to complain about artistic works. I am no author, but several of my writing pet peeves were used in this series. Yes, I listened to the whole series. The stories were enjoyable enough to cringe through some of the writing as I did other tasks. Seriously a tiny bit of honest editing would have made this series 5 stars for the style of book it is.

My pet peeves that stand out the most after listening to days of a different series that was really well written.
-“none of us” versus “either of us” when there are 2 people.
-MULTIPLE names for the same body part in the same paragraph. It is so distracting and ruins the flow that I skipped ahead a few times. Pick 1 or 2 max
- I think the phrase was “juices sprayed “. Enough said.
-The discovery of something notable twice. I think this only happened once, but it was a significant detail about a character.
- I do genuinely appreciate that using the same phrase repeatedly was not a technique used. However, the opposite was. Unfortunately, my biggest pet peeve in the story is the thesaurus factor. It broke up the flow when enjoying the story. I can’t recall meeting anyone that actually talks the way this was written.

Again, the stories are fine and rather enjoyable, it is just that my personal preferences in writing styles have more flow. This review is written for anyone whose inclination to avoid my pet peeves.

Just ok

What I don’t understand is how the book starts out,so good that I don’t want to quit listening to it to suddenly at the end, the actual verbiage that poor narrator had to read just sounds stupid. I don’t understand that it’s like why did you even have to make it so that Xander even goes back to get her or let the cops get him instead of adding writing that makes it sound like a teenager wrote it. I hate to be so harsh but if you read from the time they find Xander and Anderson goes into get him or contact him I guess is the better way to put it it just seems silly that that was even put in there. I don’t know maybe it’s just me I don’t think so though. I’m really curious to see what other people think.

good start but needs work

This was a good story and had you at the end of your seat. What killed it for me was the ending.
When you make a romance story about a couple getting knocked up. You want to hear about the birth, how the dad welcomes the baby, and the happy ending.
The author does not add any of those details in.
The readers did good but not good. They should of let the male reader be the voice of all the guy characters. The female reader sounds young and does not do a good with the male character voices.
she's not awful but should not be reading adult romance books. Again she's not bad. I was able to finish the book but it was noticed.
The ending of the book was really the reason I will not listen to this again. I read reviews for other books in the series and she does the same thing. Story about couple screwing and getting knocked up but nothing past that. Will not hear about the baby.

Disappointed

I liked the story concept but it got to a point where I just wanted to finish it because I lost interest. Jo character was awful no character development from start to finish she was just one note. Ending with ex was eh. It started good but it just went downhill from there.

Nothing

The book was good. I just wish we can get more of them raising the babies instead of the other stuff, but it was a good story.
