About this listen

Only five days after a nasty breakup, best-selling Kindle Singles author Mishka Shubaly is invited to audition for a reality show - a dating reality show. Against all logic, he applies and, against all logic, he advances. Fearless and funny, Shubaly is forced to interrogate not just the reality of the show but also his decisions, his addictions, his neuroses, his desires - indeed, his entire reality.©2012 Mishka Shubaly (P)2013 Audible, Inc. Editorial reviews

Former rock musician and recovered alcoholic Mishka Shubaly doesn't seem like the type guy who'd audition for a reality dating show, but after enduring a painful breakup, that's exactly what he does in his sardonic, heartbreaking, and refreshingly honest Bachelor Number One.

Shubaly's wry, candid performance of his own semi-autobiographical work brilliantly captures his vulnerability and ambivalence, and his spot-on comedic timing pokes equal fun at the reality TV auditioning process as well as his own narcissism.

Just a fun, light listen, when you need something un-serious but enjoyable. In the vein of reality-programming gone awry! Liked the narration by the author as well.

Easy Listen-A Beachy story; Not serious, light fun

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was fine to entertain as I did housecleaning
Being it was short, it was as if I were sitting chatting with friend about his experience.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Nothing. I'm not a "Change the story" kind of person. If I wanted to do that, I'd write my own story. :)

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Nothing. It was fine. The only reason it has a 3 rating is because it was just a fun little chat with not a bunch of substance. Not a bad thing, it's just that I knew what I was getting when I bought it.

What else would you have wanted to know about Mishka Shubaly’s life?

Anything else he was willing to tell. Again, it was his story to tell, not mine to change.

Any additional comments?

If you want to have a fun chat with a guy friend and you don't have one handy, this book will suffice as a good fill in.

Listen to this story on a long walk or a car ride. Miska always make me laugh out loud and then in turn care deeply. He’s a wonderful storyteller

I love Mishka’s story telling

This is the second book I've heard from Mishka. Fucking fantastic. It's as honest as it gets and that's what's addictive.

Be does it again.
