What I love most about this book is how generously Matt guides the reader through his journey. The book is accessible, fun and is packed with valuable lessons learned. Matt outlines the highs, the lows and everything he learned along the way.

This book can not only help collapse timelines in your investment journey but - perhaps most importantly for some of us Millennials - inspire you to get started!

Great story with a lot of valuable info

The author takes you through his journey as a real estate investor. He does so in a relatable way and packs in a lot of good lessons learned along the way. I'm a relatively experienced real estate investor and found many good nuggets of info, especially in his fudgable factors breakdown at the end.

Great for first time investors or those looking to dig deeper

This was a very detailed but easy to understand guide. I appreciated the real-time ‘glossary’ explanations since I was on the go listening.
Don’t skip the nuggets at the end on how to evaluate future opportunities.

I read everyone's book on multifamily. Some were good and some were opportunities to market to investors. Then I read Matt Picheny Backstage Guide To Real Estate. The first thing that stood out to me is the writing was really really good. It read like a best selling book. Whether reading for a depth of understanding of investing or learning to cook it was very well put together. I think you will only really appreciate my next point if you real a lot of Investor books. But the book started as a life story, which was a total plot twist. I thought I was just going to enjoy a good autobiography. But no, Matt incorporated how his twist and turns complemented and even directed him towards REI. Like an artist whose tapestry seems to be random colors and lines conducts the last strokes to bring everything together. The second half of the book details the thought process, equations, tools, and resources of an experienced investor. A must read for investors of all kinds!

A "Must Listen" for New Real Estate Investors!

Let's face it, real estate investing can be a dry subject. By interlacing valuable insight on how to approach real estate investing like a pro with his inspiring career and real estate journey, Matt provides a clear and concise approach to learning the pros and pitfalls of real estate investing, making it easy to learn from his various experiences on the way to his current focus in syndicating multifamily properties.

Matt's background in acting also makes him a great narrator, with a great, engaging voice that will keep you both entertained and interested. The most challenging aspect to getting value out of most books is finishing them, and you won't want to quit listening with the masterful way Matt intertwines his experiences with the lessons he's learned along the way combined with his backstage glossaries of key terms and concepts.
