A valuable art collection disappears, turning a treasure-hunting duo into crime-stopping sleuths committed to vindicating family members in Kaylin McFarren's action-packed suspense novel, Banished Threads.
While vacationing at the stately Cumberforge Manor in Bellwood, England, Rachel Lyons and Chase Cohen attend an elegant dinner party hosted by her uncle, Paul Lyons, and his aristocratic wife, Sara. Before the evening ends, a priceless collection of Morris Graves' paintings is stolen from her uncle's popular gallery, throwing all suspicion onto his wife's missing granddaughter.
Determined to clear Sloan Rafferty's name and, in the process, win Paul's favor, Chase scours the countryside looking for answers. In his absence, the police accuse Rachel's uncle of an unsolved murder, and secrets surrounding her grandmother's death and the deaths of Sara's former husbands turn his wife into the most likely suspect.
With the true villains hell-bent on destroying Paul Lyons and his family, solving both crimes while ensuring her uncle's freedom endangers not only Rachel's life but that of her unborn child. Will Chase save them before the kidnappers enact their revenge, or will the ultimate price be paid, as predicted by a vagabond fortune-teller?

Really enjoyed the narration by Valerie Gilbert, she did a great job.
I haven't read or listened to the other books in the series, but it seemed fine as a stand alone book.
It was a good mystery with a few twists and turns.
Great Mystery

So many twists!

The book I found to be really slow going before things started to get interesting. There is a few twist and turns. Part of the ending was a bit of a surprise because I was not expecting it and the author left it there. It would have been interesting to see what the character would have done.
There is some profanity and sexual content which I must admit I was not expecting.

I prefer the audios, and this one is voice interpreted by Valerie Gilbert who always has a way of drawing the reader in and engaging a sense of need to read for just a little longer.
Fast paced

Too slow to get to the plot

The story gets a bit repetitive after 3 books and if it was more of the same from something amazing it would not be bad. I do feel like this book was a bit too overcrowded with plot twists and I found it hard to connect with that characters most of the time.
Okey-ish

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Sympathetic characters.Has Banished Threads turned you off from other books in this genre?
I didn't like the characters. It made little difference to me what happened to them.Which character – as performed by Valerie Gilbert – was your favorite?
Ms. Gilbert was the only good thing about the book. She was fantastic!!! She really brought the characters to life. It's not her fault I didn't like any of them.If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Banished Threads?
The scene with the psychiatrist after the party. I felt it was pretty unnecessary & too long.Any additional comments?
I just didn't like the book. The story line was okay. I just didn't seem to care what happened to any of them.I was given this review copy for free, at my request. I have voluntarily left this review.
Disappointed in the story.
