About this listen

Thirteen-year-old Talon is in trouble...again. He didn’t mean to burn down the school library. It just happened. Things like that always happen to Talon. His life is a mixture of the weird and bizarre. No one else he knows can shoot fire from their hands or cause an earthquake...but he can. Every night the same dream haunts Talon: the destruction of an underwater city. He hasn’t a clue what it means, but he feels like fate is trying to warn him. It’s not until he runs away with his foster sister, Hattie, that he discovers his trouble-making powers and strange nightmare are connected. Together they are the key to saving magic...to saving Atlantis.

First Audible I've Ever Listened To

I encourage you to listen to this Audible. The story is exciting and gripping. The narrator is gifted in drawing you into the story. Between the well-written story and the superb voicing of the characters, this is a wonderfully written, and wonderfully narrated story. I especially enjoyed the coming of age story with magic and mythology.

A Tale that Grows

Starting off it seemed your standard YA adventure with the brother/sister combo that go on and adventure. I was initially put off by some of the narrator's impressions (something you'd not encounter in the print version) and wasn't quite hooked for the first hour or so.

Once you're halfway through it really opens up and becomes a compelling tale. As the story progresses the payoff gets better so if you are uncertain about your time spent, keep going at it and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Loads of Magical Creatures & Adventure

It's a story and a boy named Talon who has a bunch of weird magical abilities. He's a foster kid who goes on an adventure with another foster girl in his house to try to find her grandmother. Dreams of Atlantis falling, fires and odd twists and turns keep the story very interesting. My 11 year old listened to this one too and he loved it! As for the content it's very clean and free of bad language, graphic violence and the little romance is just innocent crushes. The narrator did a wonderful job with all voices and really was fun to listen to.

Great Book that Keeps You on Your Toes

My husband and I listened to this together and we both enjoyed it! There were certain plot elements that weren't our favorite, but overall, this book was written very well. The plot is well thought out and the characters grow throughout the story. We didn't realize that this was the last book in a series, so it would have been helpful to have the additional context from the other books, but it worked as a stand-alone book too. We'll probably listen to it again in the future!

Loved it

This was a nice interesting and funny story. There are some similarities between the backgrounds of some of these and the characters of Harry Potter. It’s a really good Atlantis version of that plot line with enough differences that it’s not like Harry Potter.
A nice refreshing funny story. I loved it.
Also Charles Hubbell did an amazing bad guy voice!! Totally made the book.
