About this listen

HIT AND RUN...

Using fast and furious hit-and-run tactics, Marcus GioAvanti and his Avanti's Angels mercenaries have earned a tough reputation throughout the Inner Sphere. But the Inner Sphere isn't where their newest job is taking them—because their latest employer resides in that remote and mysterious region of space known as the Periphery...

The Magistracy of Canopus has been the target of aggression by the Marian Hegemony, and in hiring Marcus and his gutsy band of can-do commandos, it hopes to retaliate. But the fact that the Canopians are armed with technology considered rare in the Periphery is the least of Marcus's problems.

Marcus and his "Angels" will have to face the real force behind the hostilities—the religious cult known as the Word of Blake. And this fanatical group has a scheme deadly enough to destroy even the amazing Avanti's Angels...

Fantastic telling of this story

It's always sounds better when a woman read the women's parts and a man read the men's part.

Great story, great performance

Loved this book from way back and it still holds up. Performance was very good, one or two moments where I could hear a click at the end of a segment, like they had finished reading and were clicking a button to stop recording. But very minor thing, good job you two!

Great politics, great action, and incredible insight to the effectiveness of infantry versus mechs

This is a great story highlighting all my favorite factions - WoBbies; Canopus; Liao. Enjoyed every minute of it.

By Kerensky give these narrators a pronunciation sheet

These narrators seem like decent voice actors but for the love of an urbanmech can you give them a sheet showing how to pronounce things? Listening to them butcher St. Jamais (SAINT JA MAY ISS!) is like listening to your boomer white dad order Mexican food and try to pronounce Huevos Rancheros. They also call Kai: Kay at least once and Atreus is pronounced like the main characters name in never ending story.

Anyway the story of double blind was always one of my favorites. Marcus is a pretty run of the mill merc leader, but the real interest (as in most btech novels) is the politics behind the scenes and causing the action. The scrappy little merc company gets in too deep to plots way bigger than themselves and has to make their way out.

If you can swallow the cringe of the mispronunciation it’s a good story.
