About this listen
Help your child develop a strong sense of self by following these stories that can equip children with the powerful mantra: We are masters of our own destiny.
Bedtime Inspirational Stories celebrates the achievements of the amazing black heroes who have paved the way for future generations. Unfortunately, in today’s world, it can be a challenge to raise positive kids, as they are constantly bombarded with negative messages. More than ever, parents and teachers need to create a positive atmosphere for our children in order to help them believe in themselves. That’s why we’ve proudly created this inspiring audiobook, Bedtime Inspirational Stories: 50 Amazing Black People Who Changed the World, which highlights the achievements and stories of 50 notable women and men from the 18th century to today. Some were born slaves, some grew up in poverty, and some had physical or emotional challenges. Some were born many years ago, and some are still with us. The stories in the audiobook include those of political activists, scientists, artists, musicians, inventors, business people, Nobel Prize winners, and more.
Every single one of these individuals featured in the audiobook overcame adversities and changed the world, building a way for others to live better lives. Each one worked hard and maintained self-confidence, even when others expressed doubt or said their dreams couldn’t be achieved.
Children looking for inspiration will surely find it here. This fun and inspiring collection of influential stories provides 50 examples of strong, independent role models, all of whom had a profound impact on the world. Personal aspirations from today’s youth are also interspersed throughout the book, so that each story has its own life lesson alongside a positive message.

Story
Stacey is a little girl who loves words more than anything. She loves reading them, sounding them out, and finding comfort in them when things are hard. But when her teacher chooses her to compete in the local spelling bee, she isn’t as excited as she thought she’d be. What if she messes up? Or worse, if she can’t bring herself to speak up, like sometimes happens when facing bullies at school? Stacey will learn that win or lose...her words are powerful, and sometimes perseverance is the most important word of all.

Maya Angelou’s unforgettable collection of poetry lends its name to the documentary film about her life, And Still I Rise, as seen on PBS’s American Masters. “It is true poetry she is writing,” M. F.K . Fisher has observed, “not just rhythm, the beat, rhymes. I find it very moving and at times beautiful. It has an innate purity about it, unquenchable dignity.... It is astounding, flabbergasting, to recognize it, in all the words I read every day and night...it gives me heart, to hear so clearly the caged bird singing and to understand her notes.”

America’s backstory is a whitewashed mythology implanted in our collective memory. It should come as no surprise that the dominant narrative of American history is blighted with errors and oversights—after all, history books were written by white men with their perspectives at the forefront. Wonderful in every way!!!
My children are in elementary school and middle school, and our whole family loves to listen to these stories together. Our littles are actually still and quite the whole time, and our 13 year old son says he loves listening to this because it makes him feel happy and inspired. It is a wonderful way to end our day together.

The challenges of surviving life‼️
I liked learning about my history that was Not taught me in school nor heard about through my lifetime. I loved their quotes for their lessons and challenges to survive and master through life to get to their success ‼️
An awesome book for young children to learn black history and receive encouragement to help them navigate through life.

We can't stop listening to this book!
It is our bedtime story book at least three times a week since I purchased it. My grandson 9 years old has several stories memorized! His favorite so far is Malcolm.

Very Nice!
I enjoyed all the stories, I learned something about each individual. I rated story a four star because I would have liked stories to be a little longer.

Disappointed
The author may not have done thorough enough research. The narrator performs with a lot of enthusiasm, but it doesn't make up for the superficial information and apocryphal quotes.

Purchased by Mistake
I didn't pay close enough attention. This would be great for children, not for adults.
