This book does a really good job of introducing the contributions of African-American women to American civilization. There is a very good mix of women, you may or may not know, who have significant accomplishments and overcame enormous obstacles to achieve their dreams. When thinking of representation, this book is an effective one for showing young African-American women of what they are capable; to demonstrate they are only limited by what they can imagine.
