About this listen

Perfect.
Privileged.
Strong.
Spoiled.
Uptight.
Useless.

If there’s any one thing Pierre and Logan have in common, it’s their ability to invite snap judgements based on shallow views of who they are.

Logan is the privileged only daughter of a respected family whose legacy runs long and deep.
Pierre is the moody, orphaned son of big screen royalty who couldn’t possibly live up to the prestige of his pedigree.

Or maybe not.

Perhaps they’re just two people trying to navigate the pressures of a world hellbent on telling them what they should be, and eschewing the limits of other people’s expectations.

Maybe what they need most is somebody who can see beyond the shallow first impressions - just one person they can allow to see behind the scenes of who they are.

Maybe they have more in common than it seems.

Thoroughly enjoyed this story

Beautiful romantic story without being too synthetic. Emmanuel makes an awesome voice actor, capturing the feminine nuances of female characters without sounding too cartoonish or disingenuous
I look forward to finding titles narrated by him.

saucy with content

Nice mix of Chick Lit sizzle with character development. The male reader was awesome. For me, there was something off putting with the female reader's cadence and accent, but she read the part well. The romance was well balanced with exploration of substance abuse recovery, crippling self doubt, family expectations and the challenges of being a woman in the work place.

leave you wanting more In a good way

This story is 5 stars all around. I am loving these 2 narrators together I want more from them together. For me everything was perfect. Some reviews suggested that the writer gives too many details, but I disagree she told a story and it was beautiful, I loved reading the journey of this story, I like the details, I don't like stories that seem rushed , 2weeks and they are in mad love ready to have a baby. This story was fun and interesting, the ending was bittersweet I loved it but I was sad that it was ending, I will miss them

I rarely give all 5 stars...this was good!

So, I took a chance on this book just because I wanted something to read and, honestly, was over browsing through the "catalog." Like many audiobooks, I started with the sample. I think I was about 30 seconds in when the guy said something that made me laugh and I said out loud, "Yeah, I'm getting this one." It's a well written story with a full depiction of the varying personalities and lifestyles of black men and women. The story isn't about the plight of black people at all, I just mean the author does a good job of properly and respectfully portraying black life. The story isn't ratchet...that's what I am getting at.

The storylines are well thought out and easy to follow. Everything happens sort of naturally. There are no unnecessary, overly-convoluted plots or twists. There are some things that come up to add layers to the story but its done superbly. Each character is relatable in one way or another. While part of the story may take some readers by surprise and have them think they could never do "that," its still worked into the story very well.

The narrators did a great job. Honestly, I feel like the female narrator does a better job of conveying the male character's overall demeanor than the male narrator does. But its not a deal breaker in the story. Both narrators performed very well and I enjoyed the story as they told it. A random aside that isn't usually talked about in reviews, but the cover of this book is perfect. It gives appropriate imagery to the characters and its tastefully done.

A fair warning for some more...sensitive listeners: This story has graphic language and depictions of sexual activity. However, if sex scenes bother you, you can definitely skip past them and not miss anything in the story.
