About this listen

An accident claimed her daughter’s lives. Her husband’s life hangs in the balance. And Roo feels like she’s losing her mind....

Her husband is in a coma. And she doesn’t remember the crash, the moments leading up to it, or what happened that sent them into the water. Struggling with the painful loss of her children and grappling with her husband’s comatose state, she tries to figure out her new normal.

Migraines. Flashbacks. Memories of trying to save her daughters and husband. Navigating her daughter’s funeral, Roo leans on her sister, Molly.

As Roo tries to figure out how to be alone in the family home, strange noises, voices, and shadows reveal themselves to her.

More questions bubble to the surface. Are Roo's daughters haunting her? If so, why?

This book had a lot of potential, but it took a strange twist at the end that didn't seem to fit with the rest of the book. Roo and her family are involved in a car wreck which leaves her two young daughters dead and her husband in a coma. Roo, as the only survivor, is struggling with life after the accident. Her younger sister, Molly, suggests that she start seeing a therapist and this is where things start to be revealed.

Roo sees and hears her daughters around her home, dripping with water after their drowning and obviously not alive. But, is she seeing their ghosts or is something else going on? To me, the ending was rushed and came out of nowhere. It would have been more realistic to have things develop more slowly throughout the book instead of having so much of Roo's daily activities described.

The narrator was a bit hard to understand at times and I found my mind wandering. All in all, not a bad book, but could have been better.
