Publisher's summary

The summer before my senior year of high school I had only one goal: to make Alden Warner see me as more than his best friend's annoying little sister.

Finally, my wish came true, and he noticed me - in a big way. Too bad the next morning he had no memory of our night together, leaving me heartbroken and, as I later discovered, pregnant.

For the last four years, I've been rocking the single mom thing, making sure my daughter comes first. In fact, everything was going fine - until Alden storms back into my life…as my new boss.

His reappearance wasn't something I planned for. Add in my nosy, meddlesome three-year-old and an overprotective brother, and I'm obviously in way over my head.

My only hope now is that I can sway Alden to see things my way. But you know what they say about the best laid plans...

Narration is off, but so is the story

This is my first book by L K Farlow. I happen to be working my way through the Brother’s Best Friend series written by multiple authors. I just haven’t fell in love with this story and I have a little over a hour left. Some say that the narrators killed it for them, but I think it’s bad writing and poor narration. I feel like I can hear the saliva in Lauren’s voice as she reads which grosses me out. And Rock’s southern voice and the words he chooses to put emphasis on is just all wrong. I haven’t returned a book in quite some time, this may be my first. I’d never choose to relisten to it as I do my other series.

Narrators ruined this for me

Story was hard to get into because I was so distracted by the narrators. Possibly would have enjoyed this more as an e-book rather than audio.

Loved the story

L.K. Farlow is a relatively new author to me and why that is , I have no idea. From the first to the last chapter she had me enthralled with the story she wove. The writing was strong and I found myself totally invested in Alden and Natalie’s story. I enjoyed the narration by Lauren Sweet but I felt that the male narrator Rock Engle did not do justice to the part of Alden, but then that is just my opinion.

There were times that I laughed and cried reading Best Laid Plans as the emotions were all over the place. However this story is totally heart warming and made me smile.
Both Alden and Natalie had a fling and no one was more surprised than Natalie when she wound up a pregnant teenager.
The chemistry between Alden and Natalie is electrifying but will Alden be able to forgive the secrets and move forward with Natalie?

Loved it but...

Alden was Natalie's brother's best friend and four years older than her. She had a secret crush on him for years and tried to get him to notices her. When he did, it ended with him not remembering and her becoming pregnant at 17. To protect him, she lied to her family. She never told Alden about his child and he moved on with his life not knowing. When he enters her life again, it's time to fess up. But, how will he take it?

I loved every character in this book and the story. The little girl was the cutest thing. I did find Alden to be a little harsh on Natalie. I'm usually the first person to hate when a girl keeps secrets like this but she did have a good reason when it came to their age. I mean look how people reacted four years after the fact just imagine what it would have been like at the time. I felt like he blamed her for stuff his ex did and that really wasn't fair to her. And he never did understand how she was protecting him even when his own father told him how it was. But I still loved him and this book.

I didn't really like the narrators though. They kind of ruined the book. Maybe just read this one.

Sweet Story!

Cute story. Sweet story about second chances after some young mishaps.

Narrators were good. Lauren Sweet did a great job but the male narrator was a little hard to listen to at times.

The Male Narration Is Not Great!

The male main character, Alden, sounds like he is 70 years old. This is a turn off.

Good surprise baby story.

Sweet second chance romance

4 yrs ago, Natalie had a one night stand with her brother’s best friend, Alden, except he didn’t remember a thing! He returned to college, got a gf and moved on. Natalie got her own surprise. Now he’s back and Natalie has to share her secret...how will Alden react? This is a sweet story but sometimes it reads as an outline. That said, I still enjoyed it.

Over descriptive of trivial details

The writer spent more time detailing insignificant parts, while only touching on deeper issues. I knew more about what the characters had a meals then their relationship or mindset. Also the readers made the female leader character so whiny that it was hard to keep going. Could have done a lot more with the Characters for sure.

Bland

Predictable. I could not fully immerse myself into the story. Female character was so whiny.
