About this listen

The latest standalone novel from best-selling author Katy Evans.

When the wedding of your dreams is just around the corner, everything needs to go as planned. Only problem is, the groom didn’t get the memo.

Aaron forgot the rings, and Lia is determined to make the long drive home to get them in time for their “I do’s.”

But there’s a catch. There always is with Aaron, isn’t there?

Aaron is too hungover to come, and sends a replacement.

The best man.

Miles Foster. The cocky, arrogant, sexy best man…and the last person Lia wants to be trapped in a car with for hours.

But Aaron insists, and Lia wonders if there’s another reason Aaron wants Miles tagging along - aside from sticking her with a hot, surly babysitter.

Yet how bad can it be? It’ll be over before she knows it, and she’ll never see him again. Just like in college.

But when secrets are revealed, and Lia’s whole world is turned upside down, she realizes she’s been living a lie - and so has her groom.

Miles is supposed to be the best man at her wedding.

But what if he is simply the best man she has ever known? The best man for her?"

Great Second Chance and Forbidden Romance!

Best Man is a sweet, fun, and an emotional second chance to love and forbidden romance. I loved to follow Lia and Miles in their long drive home to get the rings Aaron forgot. Lia is a lovely woman, a little naive. Miles is handsome, caring, and protective. Aaron is… Aaron (I'll let you meet him). The secondary characters are great. The storyline is filled with misunderstanding, miscommunication, secrets, and lies. The ending is beautiful. Grace Grant did an amazing job with the narration. I love her voice. I have read and listened to this story.

The perfect wedding???

You can’t go wrong with a Katy Evans book. This one has everything. A cheating fiancé, a best man that had the bride first and a bride who wants to do the right thing. It’s the perfect storm ... oh, and there’s a blizzard too. This is a great afternoon adventure and is well worth the price.

True love..

The ego..the attitude..the good looks..Miles was going to be a challenge for Lia the moment they got into the car together. The journey to find an very important nuptial item that was left behind by her not so honest soon to be husband, Aaron. Starts to become a lot more than expected during the bantering, and a bad snowstorm. Feelings become increasingly difficult to ignore. Miles may be Aaron's best man, but Lia may be choosing the wrong man..This was a great standalone. Katy has done a great job creating the perfect HOA for her characters. I can't wait for more from her!

There's a sweet and sexy love story to be found...

I'm glad I finished this audiobook even though I had a hard time sticking with it at first. I was just bored with all the wedding planning talk and going on about the perfect wedding and how the bride had to look perfect. Lia wasn't the most sympathetic person for me with all her complaining and silly decisions and her groom-to-be was a waste of breath. Dude couldn't even pretend to be interested in being married? Miles is pretty annoying and a jerk, which I guess was the point of his character at first. There was just no subtlety about setting up the story, with the groom and bride being on completely different worlds about the wedding and the rings and the bride and best man hating each other.

The part of the plot where it turns out Aaron sent Miles to hide the picture from Lia was silly. Why would you even keep something like that around even if you weren't expecting your fianceé to visit your apartment? It made no sense, dude is messing around and not even trying to not get caught. And then Miles "hoped" Lia would find it but isn't going to directly tell her, and btw the wedding is tomorrow. Also there are serious red flags but let's just plunge forward with the wedding until....well I won't spoil it.

Other than the ridiculous and silly plot I did like the flashbacks to the night they met and how more detail was gradually revealed. It was satisfying and hot when they finally admitted their feelings and kissed and more... It's also kind of sad and surprisingly deep that the whole point of Lia trying to have the perfect wedding is her own feelings of inadequacy and mediocrity (which her douchebag groom only makes worse) and that Miles helps her see that's not true.

In summary, there is an enjoyable love story here, if you can just accept the ridiculous plot for what it is.

Nice story

It was a nice story and although Grace Grant did a good job of narrating, I wish there had been a male narrator. Not sure it'll be a book i listen to over and over but, I did enjoy the story.

SADLY DISAPPOINTING

I usually love Katy Evans.. but sadly, for me, Miles and Lia’s enemies-lovers second-chance journey just spluttered, smoked and sighed all the way to the HEA exit ramp where it just fizzled and died. Their ‘enemies’ barbed broken relationship went on way.. way.. way too long and there was no chemistry, no sizzles and no tenderness.. just animosity throughout most of the 6+ hour story (with only one sex scene btw). Lia’s plans for the ‘perfect’ wedding got repetitive and the plotline down right stupid. But most of all, it was Lia's (past and present) thoughts, reactions and actions over her cheating fiancé that brought my blood pressure dangerously high as she continually buried her head in the sand instead of drawing a line in it. I did make it to the end hoping that it’d get better and there were a couple of good scenes.. but sadly, for me, it never quite grew into more. Told from Lea’s PoV by Grace Grant and her narration was good but (IMHO) it would've been better a dual POV story..

Worth a credit? I think no and it left me in a bit of a bad mood.. but many other listeners have loved it.

Horrible

I can’t believe Katy wrote this book. I fell asleep in the first 10 minutes. The narrator was Rachel from the previous series. Quite disappointing

Bride is deep in denial about everything

I just couldn’t finish it. I got through chapter 9, but the bride was deep in denial about everything and I really hated her. I could care less if she finally realizes <spoilers> and picks the other guy because he’s a terrible match for her too. They should all just go their separate ways and she needs years of counseling to deal with her complete ability to face reality about anything. The narrator was great, just wish the book was too.

Awful!

I can't believe this is the same author of the Real series which I loved so much. I couldn't even finish this book. Unless you want to listen to 2 people bickering endlessly in a car, stay away!
