Publisher's summary

Intrigue and scandal threaten to rock the monarchy in wartime Britain...

Windsor, 1943. Britain is in the grip of war and treachery is afoot. The body of controversial former courtier Lord Blackwater is found in the abandoned Fort Belvedere, once the country bolthole of the King’s wayward brother. And all signs point to murder.

Royal confidant Guy Harford is called in to solve the mystery quickly and quietly, before any hint of scandal reaches the public. Investigating with the help of Rodie, his roguish burglar girlfriend, his enquiries lead him into the world of the Royal Ballet, where on-stage glamour hides an undercurrent of off-stage deceit. And when the ballet company’s newest recruit turns up dead, it’s clear there’s more to this murder than meets the eye.

Meanwhile, news reaches the Palace that the King’s brother—already under strict orders to stay out of trouble—is threatening to undermine both Crown and country by taking US citizenship.

Harford must do his royal duty. It’s up to him to catch the killer and save the monarchy from crisis in wartime. Before any more heads roll...

Critic reviews

“Listeners will relish Joel Froomkin's exemplary narration of this exciting WWII mystery featuring the British Royal Court.… Indeed, Froomkin brings versatility, emotional depth, and great skill to his varied depictions of male and female characters from all strata of European and American society. Froomkin's range with accents is also impressive. Listeners will have a grand time following Guy and Rodie's adventures.”AudioFile Magazine, Earphones Award Winner

“With the impressive storytelling skills of narrator Joel Froomkin…in a true 'theatre of the mind' listening experience…this simply outstanding 'Royal Mystery' is highly recommended.”Midwest Book Review

Love these books & Performances

These books are extremely well written, the characters are well developed and the plot lines believable and far from obvious. I would devour them on my Kindle but I am SO glad that I bought them on Audible instead. Joel Froomkin is a MASTER performer in this medium. His range of accents, dialects and genders as he moves smoothly from perfect voice to perfect voice is simply stunning. I would up taking 2+ hour walks simply so I could listen uninterrupted to these books. I am immediately checking the Audible store to see what else TP Fielden has written, what else Joel Froomkin has read/performed and hopefully - what they’ve done together. GET THIS SERIES!

Love the titles

I loved the summary of the book as its just peaks my interest. I kept falling asleep and losing my place in the narrative. Bailed on the last chapter. I want to like it. Might try the book.
