Publisher's summary

Nine months after Catherine Leary’s father, a literature professor, passed away, she still has not fulfilled his final wish: that she scatter his ashes in the Seaboro River in South Carolina. The scene of a childhood tragedy that forced her family to move, Seaboro is the last place Catherine wants to see again. But on the evening of her thirtieth birthday, her father’s young colleague - whom she once dated – pays a visit. Forrest Anderson offers a challenge from Catherine’s father: three probing questions that he had planned to put inside a birthday letter to his daughter. But it’s the news that Forrest plans to memorialize her father in an article that includes the family’s time in Seaboro — and the surprising revelation that her father visited there in recent years — that sends Catherine reeling. Hoping to stop Forrest from exposing her family’s secrets, she agrees to accompany him to her once – beloved Lowcountry town - and embarks on a poignant trip into the past . . . a journey that might lead her into a new life of love, forgiveness, and self-discovery.

An Awesome Book

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this both to anyone wanting to be immersed in a story where life with all its joys and sorrows are played out both within the novel as well as your heart.

What did you like best about this story?

The author draws us in and relies on the reader to identify and feel with the main characters.

What about Shannon McManus’s performance did you like?

It takes a bit to fall into step with the performance but once you do, you are immersed into her rendition of the characters completely. A great performance!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The recounting of Ellie's dementia was powerful and so real to life.

Any additional comments?

While there is a sad note to the novel, it abounds with love, redemption and hope. Just a great novel.

A great story!!

If you could sum up Between the Tides in three words, what would they be?

Depth, Life, Connection! It had a heartwarming story line with depth not superficial. The characters were enjoyable.

What did you like best about this story?

The way I learned books make you think. One must think outside of the box to get the full picture of the authors story. Well achieved here.

Which character – as performed by Shannon McManus – was your favorite?

Catherine Leary

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A heartwarming story of family and love! Must see!

Any additional comments?

Simply a very nice read with great characters and depth to the story line. Yes, it was an easy listen but was filled with many things that made me think. Going back to Seaboro, relationships throughout the book, my interest stayed peaked and I finished this book in a day. The way Catherine's Father presented book reading ideas was inspirational for me to value in more reads.

The author did a superb job. Close to a Nancy Thayer, Elin Hildebrand all excellent.

Between the Lines

Between the Tides is a very well written book and the gal who reads it does a nice job too. It’s engaging, and thought provoking with an interesting plot, taking some unexpected turns along the way. I really like this author and plan to read some more of her works.

Thought-provoking Read about Feelings and Choices

The characters are well-drawn and have meaningful lessons to teach. There are surprises, intrigue and conflict but ultimately, resolution.

Very predictable

I had story figured out very quickly on this one...definitely not my favorite of her books.
Helped that it was audio and I was just driving.

Great read!

I love to read so the whole premise of this book was great. The way the story developed kept me wanting more. It also made me want to read To Kill a Mockingbird again.

Meh. Not much of a story. Didn’t keep me interested could have been better. Do like the author.
