About this listen

For 18 years, Jude Farraday has put her children’s needs above her own, and it shows - her twins, Mia and Zach, are bright and happy teenagers. When Lexi Baill moves into their small, close-knit community, no one is more welcoming than Jude. Lexi, a former foster child with a dark past, quickly becomes Mia’s best friend. Then Zach falls in love with Lexi and the three become inseparable.

Jude does everything to keep her kids on track for college and out of harm’s way. It has always been easy - until senior year of high school. Suddenly she is at a loss. Nothing feels safe anymore; every time Mia and Zach leave the house, she worries about them. On a hot summer’s night her worst fears are realized. One decision will change the course of their lives. In the blink of an eye, the Farraday family will be torn apart and Lexi will lose everything. In the years that follow, each must face the consequences of that single night and find a way to forget... or the courage to forgive.Vivid, universal, and emotionally complex, Night Road raises profound questions about motherhood, identity, love, and forgiveness. It is a luminous, heartbreaking novel that captures both the exquisite pain of loss and the stunning power of hope. This is Kristin Hannah at her very best, telling an unforgettable story about the longing for family, the resilience of the human heart, and the courage it takes to forgive the people we love.

✫✫ 4.5 Stars ✫✫

Another great book by Kristin Hannah. This book was heartbreaking and sad with a very heavy subject. Until about the last few chapters, I was angry with the out come, angry at most of the characters and angry at the reality of a "simple" mistake. Young Adults make mistakes and sadly sometimes the mistake affect a lot of things and it was hard for me to watch one teen pay for the many mistakes made one night by everyone involved. The blame and hate in this book was the hardest part for me but thankfully it has a (bittersweet) happy ending even if the outcome was a little far fetched in my opinion. This author can write a story about anything I think and I would be enthralled. And yes I cried during this book which is a big thing since I rarely shed actual tears for books.

The narration was good, she did a good job of separating the character voices.

I love Kristin Hannah Books

I was worried that I would be disappointed by this book since Kristin Hannah is not generally so dark. But she did not disappoint.

just a story

yes, but I am writing this through tears. Kristin Hanna is able to create characters so lifelike they are easy to empathize with. this is such a gentle story until tragedy strikes, even then you might not notice how the characters have touched your soul. until you feel the tears.

Good but not her best

In the beginning I felt the story dragged a bit, though I definitely picked up at the 50% mark! The narrator threw me a little with Mia’s voice. She sounded so much younger than she was that it was distracting. But the portrayal of Jude’s grief was evocative and real and I was crying on my walk near the end. Overall I’d give it 3.5, but I bet I would have liked it better in print.

I love the narration of this book it made it go so quickly, too quickly! It was very entertaining and really made me think about the kind of mother that I am and how I could make changes.

Touched my Heart

This is a story that any parent could relate to. Anyone who has children and watch them grow up and deal with peer pressure. I was so touched by this story that I found myself weeping at times and laughing at times. It was hard to stop listening to. One that you couldn't wait to be alone so you could plug into again. In every way this book was so worth listening to. Really enjoyed the narrators voice as she changed characters. This is one I can't wait to share. Totally loved it

A Little Long

Liked the book. Not as exciting as Four Winds. Got a little draggy halfway through. Enjoyed the narrator.

overall the book was good, hut had a hard time getting into it. The beginning I kept waiting for something too happen and I had a feeling of what would and it did eventually. the middle and end was much better and was full of emotion. I still would recommend this book.
