About this listen

Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Suicide Squad in this adult dark, rompy novel in which the most beloved villains from Buffy must team up to stop the Slayer from ending their evil universe!

Demondale, Callifornia, 1999...Like Sunnydale, but whole lot more evil. Step into this alternate reality, where chaos reigns supreme.

The Mayor's sun-shade has created permanent darkness over Sunnydale, fully opening the Hellmouth once and for all. Now the newly christened Demondale has become a safe haven for vampires, beasts, and all types of ruffians. It's never been better to be bad.

Aspiring supervillains (and super nerds) Jonathan and Andrew attempt to hold their own in a town full of monsters, while eleven-hundred-year-old vengeance demon Anya is just looking for something to give her life purpose again, spending her days working at an evil juice bar. But soon word gets out that there's a new Big Bad on the scene, one more powerful and more destructive than anyone who has come before. She, of course, is Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And she's hell-bent on rooting out all of this reality's evil by any means necessary.

Now Jonathan, Andrew, and Anya must recruit a team of Demondale's most notorious villains—including Angelus, Spike, Drusilla, and even Ripper the malevolent magic shop owner—in order to save their world. But it'll be no easy feat to put their pride and differences aside and stop the worst thing that has ever come to town: good.

Written by acclaimed author and Buffy super fan Lily Anderson, this novel brings together Buffy's most devious and beloved villains from the Trio to the Whirlwind to Anya, Glory, and Vampire Willow. This is one apocalypse Buffy fans are not going to want to miss!

Buffy Salve

A wonderful visit to Buffy and the Scoobies, with charming voice performances. A salve when a rerun just isn't doing it.

Buffy fan must

I was hesitant when Disney started releasing Buffy canon novels. I haven't been disappointed with one yet.

Just about every character from every season

The books brief description was poorly worded and accidentally misleading. I was over halfway through listening wondering when and how Buffy would cross paths with the Suicide Squad before I finally realized it was not some Buffy/DC comics crossover. Derp. That aside- story was decent- some characters werent quite themselves but I was able to overlook those moments and remain engrossed in the story and revolving door of nostalgic characters from all the seasons.

Epic Story!

If you’re a true Buffy fan this is a great story in the Buffyverse. Very well written and a great story over all. Love the callbacks and nostalgia as well.

The Big Bad finally take over

I really liked this book as an alternate universe option for Buffy while incorporating portions of the show. Kind of like wicked where you see the other side of Things, but not the same. Of course nothing can ever be as good as the show, but I was thoroughly satisfied on this and wouldn’t mind a book two. The person reading sounds very formal, and most voices were OK with Anya being the best. I would recommend to anyone who is okay with shifts and changes to the original story.

Worse than fanfiction

The writer obviously does not understand the characters of the Buffyverse. Spike and Angelus are so boring, and so not Spike and Angelus from the shows. You could replace their names in this book with any other generic name and it honestly wouldn't make a difference. Buffy's characterization also falls flat. Anya was the only one that was decently done. The whole thing was just so boring. I've had more fun reading fanfics that were way more convincing than this drivel.

Another Buffyverse disappointing novel

The characterizations are horrible! Did the author even watch the show? Angelus is probably the worst. In the show Angelus is a himbo with a massive ego, here he's written as a boring know it all. And somehow all knowing about slayers. (wrong vampire there for the slayer killer! Angelus avoids Slayers.) Spike is dull (how the hell did she manage that?) Buffy's narrative voice isn't even close. And she is crazy overpowered. I love Buffy but she needed her friends to survive and Anya could have handed her ass to her without breaking a sweat? So how did she defeat a whole universe of Vengeance Demons? For some reason Jonathan and Andrew are the main characters? Why? Anya was the only enjoyable character.

I loved Buffy back in the day so I keep giving the novels a chance only to be disappointed. None of the novels capture the essence or feel of the show or even the movie. This book is no exception.

Great concept, poorly executed. Hopefully someone turns it into fanfic. Buffy fanfiction is so well written the novels haven't come close to touching the fanfic.
