About this listen

Magical criminals require magical solutions.

Who answers the call when the mundane police dial 911?

Matt Bordelon—former Silver Griffin, wizard, and the Big Easy Bounty Hunter.

Matt has a good thing going. Deliver justice to magicals? Check. Keep the world safe from threats? Check. Make good money doing it? Cha-ching.

Unless his bounty ends up dead when the paperwork specifies alive, that is. Good thing he’s a pro at avoiding that.

Then he stumbles across a dark witch embroiled in a vicious spell battle with a dark wizard and feels compelled to aid her.

Is subtle magic at play to influence him? Or is it something else?

Matt doesn’t know, but he shelters the gorgeous woman on the run from dangerous enemies anyway. Meanwhile, a powerful magical threat is murdering mundane cops in his town. Worse, no one can identify the shadowy entity behind the killings.

Matt is on the case, but can he survive the coming battles, magical and emotional?

Good but the characters need work.

The story is fun and interesting, but it is clearly a man writing a female without knowing how women think.

Boy howdy. what a FANTASTIC BOOK. I latterly could not stop listening. this is a first read/listen by this author and it won't be the last there needs to be more of his books put out in Audible. the story was very well written. loved all the character the good and bad were well developed the MC's were very well liked lots of action, light, romance, and laughs I can't tell you my favorite part because the whole book was that good. heads up there are several stories going on and it switches back and forth I had to rewind in the beginning a couple of times but you catch on quickly. if you've never listened to a performance by Stephens your in for a treat she can bring a book to life. switching voices seamlessly and puts emotion in performance Highly recommend and can't wait until the next comes out in Audible

Love it!

This book moved at such a fast pace. Seems to be a new take on Marie Lavoe (sp?). Bounty Hunters, black magic and saucy characters all add up to a fun book that goes by way to quickly.

over all a fun book

I had a lot of fun learning about this world and it's magic. the characters are all enjoyable as well.
it isn't the most complex book but makes up for it with characters and action.

Not for me

This isn't for me. It has too many strange characters and too much going on. I couldn't get into.

Big Monster Bore

This was an astoundingly dull listen for a series set in New Orleans shortly after magic became known to the world and featuring a bounty hunter. There’s zero attention to describing settings or painting pictures of what any of the myriad characters look like other than Matt has blue eyes, and dated use of “mulatto.” The only backstories seemed to be which guy slept with which crazy-lady. The dialogue is stale, relying on F bombs and Nawlins accents for personality. And despite the magic, this played out like an ordinary cop procedural involving drugs and mafia politics. Even though books 2 and 3 are free in Audible Plus,
I will not be moving on.
