Publisher's summary

Watch out Montreal. You're in for a fiery ride.

I knew three things about my life before adoption: I was a baby rescued from a blazing house fire, I was found in the arms of a dead man, and no one ever came to claim me. No one. Not ever.

Now, as a Montreal detective, I'm dedicated to hunting truths for a living. Unheard voices. Cold cases. Unsolved mysteries. Unearthing secrets hidden in the shadows is my jam. Until the fae veil falls . . .

When the world learns magic is real, everything changes. Montreal begins seething with prana energy, dormant genes activate, and seemingly normal humans experience magical awakenings.

I have an awakening.

Suddenly, everything I've obsessed over about my violent beginnings sucker-punches me in the gut. And what's worse-the murderous factions who hunted me so long ago are back on my scent.

Be careful what you wish for. You just might get it.

Great start for the series

A fast paced action packed 1st book to the series. I love she includes characters from the original series but they don’t overshadow the new characters I’m getting to know.
A great read.

Fun story, but very similar to the Urban Druid

Enjoyed the book. Great narration, but the main character suffers from the same weaknesses Fiona has in the Urban Druid - a tendency to be a hothead and rush into situations without considering all the ramifications of her actions. I expected more from Jules since she is a police officer. But, I will still get the next book in the series anyway. LOL

Amazing fantasy

A must read. Highly recommend to everyone who loved fantasy. Recommend reading Chronicles of an urban Druid first.

I can't really say

I didn't realize that this was a spinoff from another series. After the first couple of chapters, I felt like I needed to read the original series. Unfortunately, after looking the first book in the original series, I realized that I tried the first book and didn't like it.
