Publisher's summary

Everyone is chasing their own dreams, but Johnny isn't sure he even has one.

Apex Racing is expanding and absorbing Pilot and his lovers. Everyone is happy with it...except for Johnny. He's constantly feeling left out and more alone than ever before. It's time to seek out his own win and find his holeshot, even if it’s off the track and away from Pilot.

Gavin is determined to put together the hottest Supercross team, and he wants that to include Bryce Nickels. But that seems almost impossible since Bryce signed with Apex. Perhaps he needs a new angle, like the sexy business partner of the bodyguard, Johnny Killebrew. Maybe he'll sign on for more than he bargained for.

Bike Business is the fourth title in the Holeshot series.

enjoyed it

Would I listen to it again: yes ✔
Did the story keep me engaged: yes ✔
Was I invested in the characters: yes ✔

📖 Story comment: Good pace, likeable characters, nice flow - with a bit of kink.

Johnny is a young man finding his way, a little lost in life and love - enter Gavin, a recruiter for a Motocross team and just what Johnny doesn't know he needs.
This is an entertaining story of a young man's journey to finding himself.

I don't know anything about Motocross/Supercross, but there is enough detail and supplementary information that I didn't feel lost or as if I were missing anything.

🎧 Narrator comment: I enjoyed Ryk Bowers's narration, has good cadence, inflections and intonations and it's easy to distinguish the characters from each other. I did find myself nudging the speed up a smidge to 1.1x or 1.2x sometimes as it just felt a little slow for the "feel" of the story. Overall though an enjoyable performance and he bought the characters of the book to life.

Ryk Bowers provides a no-nonsense reading!

Johnny is feeling left out as his long-time childhood friend Pilot finds love with not one but two younger men who are drivers in the Supercross dirtbike circuit. Readers discover that the bookkeeper for his uncle's Trident Security company linked his dream of being a co-owner to a life he had planned with Pilot. With Pilot committed to two other men, Johnny's goals and dreams are in tatters. He develops a relationship with Gavin, a manager for the team reeling from the arrest of the driver who was behind the harassment and attacks on Davey and Tyler. Gavin abandons his goals to lure away Bryce by manipulating Tyler and develops solid plans to win promising drivers for his team all while building and strengthening his relationship with Johnny.
As Johnny wrestles with changes in the dynamics of his relationship with Pilot, Gavin wrestles with his jealousy of Pilot as someone Johnny continues to rely on in time of need. In the end, Johnny makes three major changes in his life. He relinquishes his goal to join Pilot in becoming half-owner of his uncle's security company. He relocates from Colorado to California and moves in with Gavin. Lastly, Johnny accepts employment on Gavin's team to further his bookkeeping skills and develop new ones.
I must admit that my knowledge of the storyline for this book is sketchy as I found myself fast-forwarding past the BDSM sex scenes that were not predictably located at any point in the novel's chapters. Such made it difficult to navigate to the other relevant events in the book. Many writers choose to start and/or end a chapter with a sex scene, making it possible for the reader to more easily disengage from erotic content they may find excessive, uninteresting, or distressing. Most may find BDSM marvelously stimulating but it can be disturbing and repulsive for other readers, especially when the book's synopsis does NOT indicate it as a quality sexual interaction between characters in the story. BDSM can serve as psychoemotional triggers, especially for those suffering sexual trauma.
