About this listen

The second in this hilarious cozy mystery series features a woman who is a talent agent for showbiz animals and discovers that she has a talent herself: solving crimes.

Kay Powell, theatrical agent to non-human animals, is babysitting - that is, birdsitting - her client, a parrot named Barney, on the set of his new TV show, Dead City. When the show’s charismatic star is shot in his trailer between scenes, the only eyewitness to the crime is - you guessed it - Barney. And even though Kay keeps explaining that even a “talking” parrot doesn’t actually converse with people, the investigators insist on interrogating the bird for information he clearly can’t communicate.

Suspects accumulate like birdseed, and before long it’s clear the killer believes Barney might actually be able to supply useful evidence. Even Barney can’t fly away from this one.

Not a great story

Narrator was great! Story not so great. The murder didn’t seem for real and didn’t love it

I really found this book very enjoyable.

Between the mysteries and the story and the humor I quite enjoyed this book. Of course I have found all of E.J. Coopermen's books very good. I appreciate the characters emencely . I am looking forward to the next book in any series.

Really fun and creative!

Loved this series like I've loved all of Copperman's work...completely! A true wordsmith that can write humor in a personable way that really connects with the reader.

Contrived story

The narrator was good so it was not unenjoyable but the story line was convoluted and contrived. None of the characters were very relatable so it was hard to have much concern about the person who has been murdered or the resolution. The bird is the highlight of the story.

Light and fun

This was a fun listen, nothing taxing or heavy, especially if you can get past the narrator’s slightly irritating sing-song style. After that, it’s a walk in the park type of listen…

Thoroughly enjoyable

I recently happened upon this author and have totally enjoyed the cozy mystery style! I had no idea this genre existed. As an animal lover, I appreciate the animal theme in this series. I have loved the first two books and really would like to see more! A great, simple diversion!
